ParticipantWord. Nice to get to know you Kong. Not to derail the thread, but I think it would be cool if we turned this into a “get to know everyone on the server” type deal. I will go next:
I am a 22 year old senior psychology major at the University of Tulsa. I will graduate in May, and am not sure what I will be doing next year. I have yet to hear back from a couple graduate PhD programs in cognitive psychology, but I am having doubts about that. I may take a year to get some work experience and then apply to an MBA program. Currently however, I am focused on finishing up a 4 year research project that I will be presenting in New Orleans at the largest Industrial/Organization psychology gathering in the nation (note: I will probably *edited* myself on stage).
I enjoy playing CSS and have for the last 4 years or so. I started on WCU’s server approximately in September when I broke my warcrack addiction, although i probably discovered it earlier than that. In addition to school and video games, I also have spent some time learning to juggle and have an amateur interests in cryptology and lockpicking. I also like to read, particularly the classics. If any of you high schoolers are too lazy to spark-notes something, just ask me about it, because odds are I have read it.
Anyway, that’s about it for me; I know I am bit vocal on the server at times, but that’s kinda my way of venting. In person I am actually quite reserved. Oh yea, I also like to play source when I drink; that could be part of it too.
ok, NEXT!

Ah alright I was not sure if it was just me and i managed to break it or if it was happening for everyone. For some reason it is broken for me only when I am logged in to the website. When i am not logged in it loads just fine.
Also, is it true Liam that you banned the entire state of Wisconsin to deal with one problem case?
Bananarchy
ParticipantI voted worst for the lulz. But really, you seem like a great admin.
Bananarchy
ParticipantYea, I have noticed a bit of this too; glad it is getting addressed. Not necessarily with the admins, but just in general. Usually the people who break this rule tend to be more lax about following other rules as well.
Another issue that had me pretty butthurt the other day is rejoining. I’m not as concerned about people joining for money (although i think this is a no-no), but I actually awped a guy between the door at the start of a dust 2 round, watched as he rejoined, picked up his fallen awp, and proceeded to kill me in that same round. Needless to say, i raged. The solution seems pretty simple luckily. On other servers there is scrip that detects if a player “plays the same round twice” and automatically slays them. Would it be possible to implement this on the server?

Would I be wrong in understanding this as a sexual innuendo?
Cause it sure sounds like one.

*Edit* I was thinking about it, though but do you think we should really offer this to everyone? Or is there a way so that persay the more active/regular population gets to do this. Not sure if some new guy can just run in here and start votekick/voteban. Also definitely, we should have a rule should this be implemented on how many votes you can do, and specifically how many on one person per unit of time (?).These both seem like pretty smart checks to the system. Not sure code-wise how possible they are, but definitely some sort of anti-abuse mechanism would be nice.
One quick thought about the active/regular population stipulation. Would the server just know who these people are and adjust the number needed for a successful vote (i.e. the number needed to reach 75% or whatever)?
Good ideas though. Lets not rush into this, whatever we decide to do.
Best,
Bana

I didn’t vote since none of the three options really reflect your situation. You are a very dedicated admin that I think has the best of intentions. You are more active than many other admins, and you have a lot less tolerance for infractions. I think this last point might be what gets you into trouble sometimes. Having only recently joined I don’t have a perfect perspective, but I the number of accusations of abuse number of bans originating from you have not gone unnoticed. (Don’t get me wrong, i DID appreciate you coming on yesterday and taking care of that guy
). Anyway, based on my limited experience, you seem like a genuinely good person, who just takes a very hard-line stance occasionally that may get you into hot water.

Thanks for bringing this information forward.Playername: emerica/stan
SteamID: STEAM_0:1:6008351
I looked through the logs and found many complaints in text chat linking him to mic spamming music.
He has been permabanned.
Thanks very much for this MasterP.
And @ AMerrill, you are correct, I fail at steam IDs. The number I got was pulled from the url of his steam community page. Apparently that number =/= steam ID.

Log onto IRC and get an admin. There’s a link in the upper left corner of the forums.I will do this next time. I just noticed the feature late last night after browsing the forums.
Also @ MasterP, he changed his name several times one he realized we could identify him based on his steam account name. He was going by “emerica” (same as his steam account name) in game for a while, and then changed it to “steve.”
Thanks very much to everyone for your fast response and concern in this matter (and also the poll)!

I have noticed that you kinda have to have a map like dust2 that is “over-played”…it keeps people in the server if they know there is a map they like coming up…and as we all know, dust2 is one of the most popular maps. I am a huge advocate of completely removing dust2 from CS:S…but I have learned to deal with it.
Yes, unfortunately I think you might be right on this one.

1. go to players list2. mute player
3. ????
4. Profit
First thing me and everyone else tries. I suspect it has something to do with the alltalk after death feature, but the method you suggest doesn’t seem to work. Perhaps it’s just me being retarded, but nobody on the server today was able to mute the said individual.
cheers,
Bana
Double edit: I am a retard regarding the steam ID of that guy. I think the number I posted isn’t actually a steam id. Methinks I need to go about learning how to get the console to report those. Still deserving of some sort of a ban imo. His steam username was emerica, that much I know.

ParticipantGenerally I don’t mind greater variety. My biggest problem with map rotations is over-playing of popular maps. I like that this one incorporates some new ones for shorter times, however, I think dust_2 might be in the rotation a little too often ><
Bananarchy
Participantjust to throw in my 2 cents, but I have noticed this glitch (only one or twice however)
Bananarchy
ParticipantOverall a highly enjoyable server. Just a couple things I notice:
1) A more robust map rotation. I don’t have anything against any of the maps in particular, but simple having a couple more in the rotation would be nice.
2) A minor issue that has only recently begun to be a problem is that I cannot mute the voice chat of players on the opposing team. Thus, mic spamming has been an issue (I know, I’m not really one to talk), particularly when players die. Would it be possible to make muting possible for players on the other team? This also leads into my third point….
That’s it for me. So far MasterP has been good, but as someone else had noted, a greater physical in-game presence from some of the higher-ups would be nice.

Contrary to popular belief this post is not one of substance for in fact it is your first post. The first time one posts they are subsequent new people and therefore have nothing decent to say concerning the internets, interwebs, or anything in between including coding. Sorry to tell you Bananarchy, AKA user, this post is meaning less and futile in your efforts to run a cohesive argument. I am obliged to end this with something of value you may have said. That is all.
