Participant@ Dustin: if you want a server to play with I could loan you mine. It’s a 1U HP DL140. Dual processor, single core opterons with 2GB ECCDDR. It’s set up for Windows 2008 R2 Web. Old and loud but still gets the job done.

Tell me if im wrong by this but wasnt this our highest attended meeting ever, im sure by word of mouth, the cat fair, and various other actions this has been the most advertised meeting that i have ever been a part of.

ParticipantMitch everyone who walked through the door didn’t become a member. it was only people that are current students, have attended 2 or more lans and 2 or more meetings. the only time we had an open membership was the last meeting of last semmester. that was a decision made by me and shingi after being advised by SGA. Daniel had little to no involvement in the final say if i remember correctly. so please if you have a further suggestion to make please say it otherwise please stop picking apart everything that anyone does just so you can rage about it.

You say the way membership was held last semester was wrong, maybe it was maybe it wasn’t, but saying that all qualified students can only regain membership by attending this past meeting, especially when it wasn’t heavily advertised, is also wrong. If you want to be fair about it, all qualified students should be able to become members for this entire semester, not just the first meeting.
Mitch, Mitch, Mitch, you really dont know what you are talking about on this one.
What you are saying we should do is EXACTLY how we did it. Some of the executives wanted only certain ones students back in, but I told them we have to be fair, to open it up to everyone (just like you are saying). After playing around with some ideas, I finally had a break through to be fair to everyone, and this is how the constitution now reads:
“Any student that meets the aforementioned membership requirements before the date of Sept. 1, 2010 will automatically be considered a full-fledged member.”
The requirements of 2 meetings and 2 lan events while having been a student of western carolina university.
The way it reads, ANYONE can come up and request membership IF they meet the requirements. Pretty sure this makes it fair, and very eloquently rights the wrongs from last semester shutting membership down.
Now, if you are going to try and start an argument on here Mitch, please get your facts straight before doing so, this is getting old.

Adam FaulknerParticipantTrying to put the thread back on topic here.
The requirements of 2 meetings and 2 lan events while having been a student of western carolina university.
the last part sucks. I think the last part was added in there to exclude dustin
however he meets all the other requirements. @dustin Wow thats sweet. PM me with the model and info on the unit and I will see if we can rig something up. I know that we can find a toughbook notebook that has a touch screen and solder a vga cable on it. Then case it and mount it. I think 12-14 inch screen will be big enough. I am worried that the new phones will be better than trying to install a computer in the truck. Personally that is where everything is going. So don’t spend too much energy in the idea.
Also Dustin I know you curse but dude the forums is not the place to do it. You are setting a poor example on here for someone who wants to be a future president. You need to remember that Ashley and I read these posts and your still my little brother. You won’t find any cursing in my public posts. The private section is another story. Use NoDice grammer if your going to curse. Atleast it adds humor and doesn’t get indexed if the sear filter was to ever fail. The last thing we want is to google to index Dustin Faulkner F*** WCU Gaming because it was contained in a topic. Get my point?
@ everyone else. Atleast we are moving forward. I still think that we should focus more on the lan event and make it as big as it can be and less about the political stuff that comes with the club. We are always going to agree to disagree on something. Lets think about the big picture and put these leaders to work. Once they start working I am sure the direction that the club will move to will be apparent. If they are not working it will show next weekend. Hey its all uphill from here given the last lan was a fail. Right?

I’m not trying to start an argument here I’m simply running on the facts as they were posted for everyone online. Both of you know that I don’t start arguments and rage if you did morally right thing so instead of assuming I’m trying to do something you know I don’t do go check to make sure all the facts were posted.
If you had posted what the actual constitutional revisions said I wouldn’t have said a word about it because how you worded it was more than fair. I asked before, twice actually, what the changes were and got no reply.
Let’s make a deal, ok? Every time you guys change the constitution, please post the updated version so more than just the execs knows what it says. So many of our recent problems stemmed from having multiple versions floating around and that happened because changes and revisions weren’t posted here. When *edited* hit the fan in March we were operating on 4 different versions; we’re at 2 now let’s get it back down to 1.
Also, make sure that SGA and our advisors have copies of the new version.

Trust me, I agree the constitution needs to be updated ASAP. That HAS been a huge problem. I actually compiled the changes today, and have it in a word DOC for who ever can update this for me

Also SGA does have the new constitution already.
@ Dusitn, once again, I does suck that we couldnt get everyone to sign in. Everyone was originally lining up and there was chaos. To solve the chaos I told everyone to find a seat and passed the sheet around down each row. Even after that I asked if all the walk ins had signed to. I really tried man
About the dustin membership thing, I know he may meet the requirements, and it would be nice to have him in the ranks, but from an outside perspective, it would look REALLY bad on our part to do that. because he is new to the school. If anything, I think it will aid Dustin to go through the requirements. If he really does want to become a president one day, he will be able to say “Hey, to all you new members, I went through those requirements once”.

Did I mention just how out of date the one they used to have was? lol
Glad to hear this is getting done. In many ways it’s more important for SGA to have the updated copy than the website

ParticipantAnother topic. Working on the pizza situation for the Lan currently, but I have the ok to set up a booth in the Scott lobby whenever. Hoping to get the ok from the Walker RD.
Also, I am attaching the new constitution for anyone to view, and am also going to post a new topic on the matter. For anyone with the know-how to change it on the site, please help!

Yeah, to make things easy, and with the go ahead from mike corele (sp?) I waited til the day after the meeting to submit the “SGA Club Verification form” so that the Fall 2010 copy of the form will have THE most update copy of the constitution.

September 8, 2010 at 10:10 pm #105092MasterP
ParticipantIf they haven’t been sent to the printshop yet it’s highly unlikely you’ll get them before the event.
Keep in mind that you have to give these to the RDs to put up and that takes a couple days by itself. If you want to have them up for a few days before the event you need to turn them in to the RDs by Friday. Not to be overly negative here but you’re running out of time.

ParticipantIf it means we’ll get the fliers up next week, I’m willing to slip about fifteen dollars into the treasury box.

ResLife has alsways payed for 250 flyers. Never had we had to get the monies prior. We have just told the print shop to bill ResLife under “Gaming Club”. If something has changed Talllageese needs to call Keith ASAP to make sure this is still a go. If it is we then need to get in touch with Raven to edit the flyers with date/time info.
Why does it seem we are still waiting till late minute to do everything?

Nothing has changed. I was simply saying that the printshop takes longer to make the fliers than we have left before the LAN so we’ll have to get the fliers by another means which will probably cost monies.
BEAUTIFUL MONIES!
