So this brings up another issue about quick switching while sniping. Some people do it, some people don’t. Technically it is an “exploit”. Here are a few pros/cons to quick switching and some statistics:

    Pros:

    1) Ignores the reload animation, enabling the gun to be fired upon ready once you switch back. This can be done fastest with the knife, as somehow the pistol and grenades create a small delay, thus reducing the point/effect of this.

    2) Allows the sniper to zoom out, faster, and as a result redirect his aim towards another target or area. Yes we hate double zooming just to get out of the crosshair view.

    3) Actually enables a faster diffuse. Yes it does indeed. Normal diffuse takes i believe last time i counted 15 seconds. Quick switching weapons glitches it so that it diffuses slightly faster. (I can get it down to 11, using mwheel). (This happens when you don’t have a kit).

    4) Quick switching in a middle of a firefight, also resets you’re current recoil settings which enables you to become accurate again as if you didnt burst/spray the last whatever seconds.

    Cons:

    1) Ignores reload time, so that the sniper may shoot faster than the time alloted.

    2) Can diffuse bombs faster than normal without a kit, sometimes making bombs that SHOULD blow up, NOT.

Yea some people quickswitch a lot, it’s in our blood and inbedded already so it’s hard to not notice it. But it does give a player an advantage over a player who’s not doing this. QS gives a player an advantage just like bunnyhop, but should it be allowed even though it’s no less an exploit than bunnyhopping?

That’s interesting about the defuse time, I was unaware it did that…

But I think the difference between the two is the fact that quickswitch is as easy a click of the button, thus, every/anyone can

“easily” quickswitch whereas bunnyhopping does require skill and time to learn to do it. There is not as much of an art that is required to make a quickswitch effective. So although QS gives players advantages, there is no discriminating against who can use it, be it from lack of skill, or lack of knowledge of it.

And I see your point in bringing it up as a side note to bunnyhopping, but like DJ KHALED said, there is such a small margin or peeps that want bunnyhopping that it does not seem to be a huge need in the server.

Yeah it does decrease diffuse time. I’ve seen a few people who script it so that it goes extremely fast, maybe 2-3 seconds beyond what my scroll wheel can do. But I find it silly going that far just to save 200 bucks.

But yahoo, are you saying that an exploit that doesn’t take an effort to learn is less bad than an exploit which takes a bit of practice? (trust me bhopping is quite easy… –> http://youtube.com/watch?v=J3an8k-cUYY) (Probably one of the best tutorials and explanations on how it works, and some really crazy techniques)

I’m of a fair opinion this issue was already settled.

Bunny Hopping, if I read Bitey’s post correctly, will not be allowed.

    True.

Elly-No I do not think that the exploit that is easy to do is less bad, but I am saying that since it is being permitted already, and it is not getting banned, and it gives everyone an equal opportunity already, I see nothing wrong with it…

    basically…

    to clarify:

the idea behind the “reality” suggestion WASN’T to make it illegal to jump off of clips or do this or do that… it was to eliminate the non-common-sense EXPLOITS in the gameplay on our server. like bhopping.

My intent is not to turn this $20 p.o.s. game engine into a reality simulator.

Example: If that was my intent, the HE nades would actually deal lethal damage first hit, every hit. Do they? **** no.

Bunnyhopping may be a technique of the pros and the amateur almost-pro’s. My personal take is it should not be part of THIS club’s server. If you want me to list reasons, wait till maybe sunday or later and I’ll get started. I’ve got a LAN to prepare. which by the way will not allow bunnyhopping.

the reload exploit… good lawd, buy an autosniper. have you noticed that we’ve tamed them down? yup. you know why? having your team raped by one guy taking 1 shot / player and x shots / second is not fun. If you want I’ll host a vote to turn that one back into a more damaging gun. Or maybe I’ll just do it randomly one day and record all the complaints. Same concept. Even the same with HE grenades. People got annoyed that they would get destroyed so efficiently.

Those are my thoughts, you have a bhopping vote going already, and if you want I’ll start a reload vote. Cos this (contrary to some beliefs) IS a democracy.

I not sure where that is from, but it looks like Garry’s mod since you get those wierd guns or something else. But what about that kind of bunnyhopping? Not sure what he did honestly to get that, but i remember i did post up a few jumps similar to it. IE: de_compound, basically jump from hostage room, across to CT spawn or turn and go on top of the huge buildings in 1 jump.

Also know how to jump from the boat across the warehouse to the exhaust vent bomb site. (I think i posted how to do that too, just did it in the wrong direction and went into the sea).

Unfortunatly both of those two really big jumps i learned from watching “dreaming of jumps” and “———– 2”. Can’t say i invented those :<

Its the portal/tf2 engine that allows that.

Or single player. I don’t remember there being working thumpers in DM.

Half-Life 2 Episode 2 is what it is. apparently one of their patches to prevent bunnyhopping had a hole in it. if you bunnyhop backwards you can accelerate without bound, until you crash into a wall. that’s how the guy got those two monstrously long jumps at the end.
