Okay ill admit your right here, but people can only get better in an enviroment with people who are better than THEY are. If they go into some server where their god after 1 weeks of playing because their playing agianst bots and dont even know it, they wont get better. Theyll just learn how to spray and pray. People leave for many reasons, not just bunny hoping. Thats hardly the most common factor anyways. I could careless if it stays banned or not but im just saying. You cant get better at something until you try it, practice it, and challenge other people using it.So basically I think you are saying you are about to leave since you are evidently the best player according to the points…??
I personally don’t have a huge problem with bunny hopping. I have said I will try to learn some day when my schedule allows me to. And one of the other servers I play on, gasp!, is one with 16k every round, and b hopping is legal. And although the server is packed almost 24/7, I would say the bunny hopping does get a little annoying, or it could be the excessive awps…
And now I could very well be wrong here, and I don’t play CAL or anything, but I was under the impression Bunny Hopping is/was illgal, or at least past 3 hops…again, I could be wrong…

Correction. Im not saying ill leave im saying some people will get frustrated and leave. Me being the best player has nothing to do with this. Its the fact if you start to make to many rules, people will think your just trying to control how they play.

Ahh no wait i get what you were referring to now. Yea i wont stop playing on this server is still a challenge for me. Its hard enough for me to maintain my points.

ParticipantBunny hopping is an engine glitch that Valve has continuously tried to get rid of. Think of how slow Counter-Strike gameplay was designed. Bunny hopping in no way fits the gameplay that was designed into the game.

People can’t just learn to exploit no more than they can learn to program game hacks on their own. That’s how it’s SUPPOSED to be. If you want to get better join a server of cheaters and DON’T learn to cheat. Joining a server of cheaters just to learn how to cheat is retarded.

Participantwasn’t it really easy to bunnyhop when sauce first came out? and then they programmed a fix that slows you down upon landing from a jump to fix that problem? i kno i’ve read that somewhere. I’m pretty sure bunnyhopping wasn’t intended by the programmers. The fact is, you release a program to millions upon millions of users and there’s no doubt they’re going to find EVERY SINGLE exploit or glitch NOT intended to happen. I think the no bunny-hopping rule is a fair one. Didn’t Blue totally dominate the server for awhile b/c he could bunny hop? i kno i couldn’t get my crosshairs on the dude. I think it’s a major exploit, and while it’s not a cheat, it DOES give a person who knows how to do it a very large advantage over the rest of the server population who Doesn’t know how to. I say keep the no bunny hopping rule.

i kno i couldn’t get my crosshairs on the dude.Even if you had lined up a perfect AWP shot while crouched it wouldn’t matter. The server doesn’t know how to handle bunnyhoppers and if you’ll spectate them (the ones that don’t care obviously) you’ll notice that they can be completely surrounded by enemies and only a tiny fraction of the bullets shot at them find their mark. If they would take damage like everyone else I wouldn’t have a problem with it but since you can’t hit them (even if you DO hit them) I can’t and won’t support it.
You can set up the server to right at prevent bunnyhopping by playing with certain settings but they typically have undesired consequences such as not being able to get to certain “boost” or “jump/crouch” areas of maps.

lol not that quickswitching… when you’re carrying an awp or something you shoot, change weapons, and change weapons back all in quick succession and another bullet is chambered, ready to fire, eliminating the reload time.this should be allowed… it’s part of the game and any idiot can do it unlike bunnyhopping.. which should not be allowed because it’s an unfair advantage and a clear glitch in the game…
quickswitching has been out for forever and is an important skill when awping or scouting and would really mess up anyone who is used to doing it.. which is EVERYONE.. you can’t be good at awping or scouting without it.. it is an inherit part of the game..

I’ve never seen the point in it.

Participantmore to that effect, i spec’d a couple of awpers in the server and found that (surprise) they didn’t do it.

Now and forever more NO
this *edited* makes me think of smash brothers and people *edited*ing about wavedashing and other tourneyfag *edited*, that’s what my suitemates call it, anyways it’s a glitch that people exploit, and i’m pretty sure it’s equally frowned on as bhopping is. Yes you can do it, maybe it was intentional maybe it wasn’t, but it’s still trash
if bunny hopping ever is legal here, i’m *edited*ing gone
i dunno what would be after that
24/7 dust2/port/aztec probably, people can awp*edited* and bunnyhop to their hearts content

ParticipantRaine, calm down. I didn’t know you had such a temper for bunnies hopping.

C’mon, wouldn’t that thing put a smile on your face, if it was to hop?

Participantnevertheless.. there is no way to stop people from quickswitching … any mod you would made would not be effective because it would end up messing up the rest of the guns
besides… I don’t even use it because it reloads faster.. and it may do it but it’s not that much of an advantage.. the only reason i do it is because I would have to click my mouse 2 times just to get out of zoom cus i only zoom once…

Same with lemm, only occasionally do i actually quickswitch to reload faster, but more so to keep track on my surroundings. Its alot easier to quickswitch than scope twice and then be forced to scope agian when you want to shoot, and who knows while your scoped some guy might just decide to come from your left and blow your face up.

As for the “guy sneaking up on you” stuff, you have a radar now. Use it. As retarded as the radar is, paying attention to it will keep you alive longer.

ParticipantThe whole situation i said i didnt care. Its a game, not real like. Yeah bunhopping is bull and i hate it because its an unfair advantage but it gets you better and eventually you’ll kill them and be better at it.
Quickswitching should stay because its a game, its counter-strike, its been with cs for a long time, since i started playing 1.3. If you want reality join the Military, but it shouldnt matter in cs because its not that big of a problem, and never has been.

ParticipantIf u take away quick switch then its only going to make me camp futher away with a awp. I can only semi rush with a awp if i can quick switch to my pistol when im up close. I mean come on i can understand the bhop not being aloud. I cant bhop but it dont bother me that others do it but i know it does u guys. So im cool with that i dont care either way bout the bhop. But the quick switch i think is taken it far. Im with lemm one of the main reason i do it is so i dont have to double zoom. I never use the 2nd zoom im always in the first zoom so it makes it easier to aim after the first shot.
April 10, 2008 at 1:43 pm #42811Bitey
ParticipantI think the main issue is the fact that it does reduce the time that you can shoot the AWP, lets you couldn’t quickswitch to decrease that load time, I think Lucky hit the nail on the head, it would force you camp farther back as a sniper should. I get *edited*ed off when I see an AWP on the front lines and he is able to take out a good 4-5 enemies before someone finally gets out far enough to get a good shot at him. Without quickswitch that AWPer would not be able to do this. I have no problem with switching to clear your zoom I do the same thing, I DO NOT do it when I fire though, it is another one of those things that gives the AWPer yet another advantage they DO NOT need.

ParticipantWhy don’t the people who are against the bhoppers and quickswitching awpers just adapt and get better in killing them.
Flashes/Smoke placement, better aim. Im sure you guys would be way better players than you are now (not saying anyone’s bad of course, i mean you guys are all good) if you just treat bunnyhopping, quickswitching and other little tricks as obstacles to overcome, rather than complain and choose to not face them.
When i first started this game, i got my *edited* kicked so many times, by awpers, hoppers, and other crazy stuff. That’s why i have a high sensitivity and really shaky/snappy aim to deal with those quickies, and im still trying to get better at that.
As for awpers, awpers have the biggest weakness of all, 1 shot at a time no matter what. Once you get in their face, they’re going to panic, shoot faster and chances are going to miss as a result. You guys have smokes, flashbangs, and im sure you guys can get creative. Use them. How many times do i see people b*tch about my awping, but they just don’t smoke or flash?

I think the topic on quickswitching is over, the consensus appears that is does not give one that large enough of an advantage to matter.
On to bhopz. I agree with many people on their views about the bhopz. Falcon-I agree it is fun to have “rules” to make the game more like real life, but at the same time, come on, its a $20 game. Kuros-I agree that since Bhopping has been illegal at WCU since forever, there is no reason to change, why fix it if it aint broke? Elly-I agree that allowing bhopping would make others better, and I’m all for that.
All in all, I say keep the rules as they are, when has WCU had problems because of no bhopping, the only person I know that ever verbally complains has been Bracket, and maybe elly now
, and one other guy Violent by Design always comes in and Bhopz, and I always give him the 24 hour ban, and he loves it. But again, maybe I will ask a question this time, is Bunny Hopping allowed in CAL?? I thought it was not, and I know this is not a super pro cal server, but those rules could be a good guideline maybe? Just spit ballin here…
And no elly, there is no urine in my beer today…

ParticipantBitey since i made a good point tell me how many awpers u really c on the front line rushing with there awp. They all stay back now most of them dont rush up. I on the other hand do i push up alot futher in the pub then i do in matches. They are harders shots when someone is up close on u than far away. Less room for error and your dead. I hope that the server stays the same the way it is .

Once agian. Who says your not the last one alive with 5 other people? If im not correct the only way you can see people on the radar is you move your crosshair directly over them in which their position is pinged onto the map. While scoped and fixed on one position its sort of hard to look at your radar, even though i still glance back in forth.

If you’re zoomed in and they sneak up on you it won’t matter anyway. Being able to quickswitch to a deagle won’t make the AK shot in the head or the knife in the back any less of a 1-hit kill.

One you were saying look at your radar in which would prove no use what so ever unless you had teammates covering you from opposite sides. Which would mean if they die that you would know how to cover 2 areas aswell as you would know where the enemy was/how far away/and such, in which quickswitching would come into effect. Seeing as you would zoom one spot quickswitch zoom on the opposite spot. Second yes it will matter if they sneak up on you. Key word there was sneak. The whole idea of sneaking is that you can get the jump on the guy/awper. Giving the guy less time to react to shoot you with an awp and or quickswitch to a deagle. In other words yes being the last one matters a whole bunch with quickswitching, yes sneaking up on you matters, since you can just easily quickswitch and aim right back at them, assuming they miss the first shot.

I don’t know if it’s allowed in CAL or not, but I agree that this seems like it’s only an issue to 1-3 people. We all shouldn’t have to change to accommodate their wants. It seems like the consensus on b-hopping is that 98% of the people that post/play regularly don’t want it to be legal, so it shouldn’t really matter what CAL uses. This isn’t CAL, it’s a pub.

ParticipantSo this brings up another issue about quick switching while sniping. Some people do it, some people don’t. Technically it is an “exploit”. Here are a few pros/cons to quick switching and some statistics:
Pros:
1) Ignores the reload animation, enabling the gun to be fired upon ready once you switch back. This can be done fastest with the knife, as somehow the pistol and grenades create a small delay, thus reducing the point/effect of this.
2) Allows the sniper to zoom out, faster, and as a result redirect his aim towards another target or area. Yes we hate double zooming just to get out of the crosshair view.
3) Actually enables a faster diffuse. Yes it does indeed. Normal diffuse takes i believe last time i counted 15 seconds. Quick switching weapons glitches it so that it diffuses slightly faster. (I can get it down to 11, using mwheel). (This happens when you don’t have a kit).
4) Quick switching in a middle of a firefight, also resets you’re current recoil settings which enables you to become accurate again as if you didnt burst/spray the last whatever seconds.
Cons:
1) Ignores reload time, so that the sniper may shoot faster than the time alloted.
2) Can diffuse bombs faster than normal without a kit, sometimes making bombs that SHOULD blow up, NOT.
Yea some people quickswitch a lot, it’s in our blood and inbedded already so it’s hard to not notice it. But it does give a player an advantage over a player who’s not doing this. QS gives a player an advantage just like bunnyhop, but should it be allowed even though it’s no less an exploit than bunnyhopping?
