I can’t watch everybody at the same time. If the guy in front of you is speeding and the cop misses him and gets you, do you complain to his supervisor? and just cuz he did it and got away with it doesn’t make it ok.

somebody is posting just for the sake of getting his or her post count up. kek.

on a more serious note, my rotation plan included d2 twice because it fills up the server and brings people in.

No, you misunderstood me, or I didn’t make myself clear enough. When I say bad, I mean unpopular to the masses. I’m not shoving my opinion down anyone’s throat, I’m merely defending it against map voting, which I feel, along with others, is an inferior system.

The grass is always greener on the other side to some of the people.

You didn’t even address the point I made. I find that when shifted to map voting, the server, more than occasionally, ends up on a map that isn’t that good just due to it being the best choice. How does your plugin fix this problem?

My rotation includes the popular maps and then provides flexibility by allowing new maps to be introduced, and otherwise not played, while maintaining the flow of maps that everyone likes.

So exactly what, if anything, is wrong with the current rotation and why cant everyone be a little patient until we get the vote plugin fixed?

There is nothing wrong with it per say, but it could be improved. My rotation is better than a map voting plugin. It still provides flexibility with new maps but doesn’t wander off to maps that aren’t popular just due to it being the best map on the vote.

My plan for a map rotation:

    – 17 maps

    – 3 of the map slots to be rotated biweekly at slot numbers 4, 11, and 16

    – Put the more popular maps before and after to encourage people to stay for the new maps introduced.

    – In parenthesis are the map times.

    Rotation:

    Slot1: de_dust2 (25)

    Slot2: de_prodigy (20)

    Slot3: cs_office (20)

    Slot4: BIWEEKLY ROTATOR (15)

    Slot5: de_nuke (20)

    Slot6: de_cbble (20)

    Slot7: awp_map or awp_dust (15) [possibly rotated too]

    Slot8: de_train (20)

    Slot9: de_chateau (20)

    Slot10: de_dust2 (25)

    Slot11: BIWEEKLY ROTATOR (15)

    Slot12: de_inferno (25)

    Slot13: de_dust (20)

    Slot14: scoutzknivez (15)

    Slot15: de_aztec (20)

    Slot16: BIWEEKLY ROTATOR (15)

    Slot17: cs_italy (20)

    More on the BIWEEKLY ROTATORS:

    – These maps can include any type of map, be it official, cs or de, or custom, as, fy, cs, de, aim, etc.

    – A thread will be made where you can suggest the map you want for the next cycle.

    – If a new map introduced is a hit with the community, it can be added as a new slot or take the place of a map with less support.

This plan is just a draft, so please feel free to make suggestions! But do not discuss maps that can be added as a rotator, thats for a diff thread

theres a difference between being in the rotation and being in the map pool– cs_estate is not in the rotation

split frequently plays on WCU and APP servers, just under different nicknames. why he does that– i couldn’t tell you.

Pengu is a nobody in the App community ( I’m not important either )… you guys act like he is someone of high authority. He does not and will not ever represent AppState and the gaming club. Basically his word doesn’t mean anything. I’ve seen admins from WCU bash AppState as well. There is an obvious rivalry.

And, no, i’ve never put up repeated map votes until it won.

I really enjoy cs_estate. It’s so small, so the rounds are quick. It’s kinda like the non-custom map version of fy_iceworld. 5 seconds or less into the map you’re already in combat.

I can’t say that I agree 100%. WCU has become a great server, and very successful, no doubt. But as far as the strict leashes on admins, I really don’t see a noticable difference between the two servers. They are similar, if not better at AppState. I only say this because I have been on when completely unacceptable things are being said with no admin presence. I’m not taking anything away from WCU and it’s admins and community. They do a great job for the most part. The real strength I see at WCU is the senior admins heavy involvement and commitment to improving the server. This is where App fails at.

Kuros, I believe that AppState and WCU shouldn’t be rivals, but rather partners in something bigger. Perhaps an organization of some sort, a joint community. Most of the players are in involved in both communities to a degree. Why not join them together officially somehow? I’m not sure how they can be networked together, or what can be done, other than a website that they both use. Just a thought!

Deathspirit, cmon, you can’t seriously say that adding a modification to the cs server (a minor one, at that) will affect how potential students view the school. You can’t be serious.

Anyway, I don’t particularly like the ‘rock the vote’ plugin. With the maps set at a good default time, it’s unnecessary. Also too many plugins on a server tend to lag it.
