I want to change this club, so it won’t die, hence me calling for open, face to face negotiations. I am helping with the other club because I don’t think this club will change, which will lead to it’s death. I do hope we can work something out though.

So with 6 months as a member you know better than the execs who’ve been in the club 3 years and alumni who’ve been here 4-6 years? That’s oftly presumptuous isn’t it? You ever stopped to think that maybe the club was “dying” because of the actions of your commuter lounge friends? We did have a whole lot more members when Bitey was president…

Also, you skipped over my earlier comment and I’m curious to know your answer:

I know I just became active in this club but it seems to me that the 10 or so people that left with our former president are a little butt hurt because of it. Really? I mean why are you guys resorting to acting like 5 year old children? Last time I checked we were in college. As of late this has been nothing but a big drama pool, the like of which are formed by childish, immature people. I mean come on guys this is so stupid. The whole concept of “Well fine we will just start our own club”, that just makes me laugh.

Ok to Liquid, you have to understand that your associating yourself with people who intend to harm the club, so naturally people are going to be suspicious. You wouldn’t trust some one with your child that hangs out with the “wrong crowd” (BTW not saying you guys ARE the wrong crowd, just an analogy). So I mean just chill for now, and if your intentions are to help the club, your powers will be reinstated, but so far buddy, your not presenting a very good argument right now. I mean I am just throwing my two cents in nothing personal.

Say what you will, but this situation will go a lot more smoothly with a face to face open invitation meeting. Let’s stop hiding behind monitors and talk this out like adults.

What situation? The fact you guys are starting another club JUST in spite of the fact we impeached Kazka? The problem was started by those who left. Why would we want to make the other club start smoothly? Because thats the issue here. I’m all down for face to face, but I mean i hold no exec position at all. So I guess just get in touch with an exec.

Just out of curiousity, what is there to negotiate? What you’re implying is that we either make broadsweeping changes to this club or you guys… what? You’ve already quit, formed a copycat club, stolen a small chunk of members, trash talked our club to all your friends, and are advertising our servers and April LAN event as your own. What more harm could you possible extort us for?

Btw, you still dodged my question:

SGA already recognizes and funds a gaming club with a set of dedicated execs, a soon-to-be functional constitution, and a history of successul on-campus events. What is their motivation for recognizing and funding a second one?

The “lounge crew” as we apparently are called online, have been having issues with the alumnis for a pretty long time. That meeting was just the tipping point.

You are welcome to come, but I haven’t heard any of the higher-ups among the alumnis or The Family agreeing to meet with us, so I don’t know if there will even be a face to face. But if any other people want to get together, let me know somehow and I’ll try to help work out a time and place.

What does tF have anything do to with you guys leaving and forming another club. I do give you props on actually posting on the forums still though man. At least your mature enough to TRY and settle things. The fact is it probably wont happen IMO. It seems to me that the ones who left are hell bent on either starting a new club, or bringing down this one.

The one behind the other club has wanted this club to be either his or dead for years. Strangely enough, he was also impeached. Everyone else who left are just puppets.

TF itself doesn’t have anything to do with it, some of their members support the alumnis. It’s not them as a group, just a few individuals.

What do the alumni have to do with this? We didn’t call the impeachment vote or have anything to do with it. You guys have time and again ignored the alumni and done whatever the hell you wanted so why are WE now the leading cause of your dissatisfaction?

Hell I’m virtually the only alumni allowed to vote.

To Mitch: That isn’t the intention of our club.

The commuter lounge “crew” has had issues with alumni because the alumni and those who have invested a lot of time and effort in the club have pushed those in the commuter lounge to help work for the club instead of sitting in the commuter lounge playing BlazBlue all day. The commuter lounge has this problem with the alumni because instead of letting things go the course that it has been for the past year, the alumni and older members want to salvage what they can of what they built in the first place. If I’m wrong, I’d sure love to hear differently and more.

Meet with you? Why is there a need to meet with you? You’re wanting to get a face to face in order to attempt to “bully” the execs and probably to show them “how many” of the commuter loungers are going to say “wahhh if Kazka isn’t president we’re forming our new club and this is how many of us you’re going to lose.” Set a time, place, and detail the people who exactly will be there representing the club and I’m sure something can be worked out at a neutral, neutral, and undisclosed location and time. Of course, I’m sure a “list” of members will be brought to said meeting explaining and showing how many “support” Kazka and this “new club.”

By the way: “Provide a strong gaming community to this campus.” Uh, you mean like we already have? Or did you mean like we already have aside from the commuter loungers that are *edited*ed that their pick for president was impeached? The gaming community is fine on campus, actually quite strong, and the club is supposed to bring perspective students to WCU as well as give WCU attention. Tell me, if the intention of the “new club” is to provide a strong gaming community to this campus then why was it the main thing that draws the community together was completely neglected for two months because our president at the time forgot about it and didn’t know how nor what to do with it? Commuter Lounge is not Community for club in a whole.

I am new to the forums as a poster but i have stopped in occasionally to see the latest events every now and then and i have been a constant attendee at the meetings and LAN events (both large events and miniLANS). I was at the meeting where this all took place and I witnessed this “new club” of which all the rage seems to be about. There are a couple things i would like to point out.

You seem displeased over this new club but seem to say that you do not want the members of it and accusing them of being pawns. This will push away many people who want the gaming club to suceed but have seen those member as the only ones truly CURRENT, ACTIVE members rather than the alumni and the new hierarchy which are only seen at LANS. I’ve known Shingi for quite some time and I like the guy and all but i do not see any work coming from him or Freezer. I’ve seen the others often and i’ve seen them doing their jobs and picking up slack from others. If you truly do not care about these members occupations why is this a constant rebuttal of treachery. Let them have their fun and continue as you will.

I would like to add that i wish for future xbox360 tournaments to be announced like other tournaments. I was registered but the call was never made so i assume the only people allowed in the the tournaments were the ones jacking it in front of the console all day. Please correct this as i would like to participate in future LANs.

Alex or the7eyesmask which i’m sure you all really know are the same, despite a comment from MasterP or from who i understand is Mitch, immediately began planning for a convention in Georgia that weekend and has since been there. I am seeing a lot of flaming about an implanted spy but i noticed it was not one of the renegades that nominated him and the only other one to step up to the position was BJ, which be honest you all hate on him far too much. I’m sure if BJ had won you would have never given him any power of the position or try to find a way to manipulate him into being your tool. This is based off of what i have seen of your current actions.

I’m sure i will have other recommendations for the survival of this club and while you can choose to ignore them i would like to here what you have to say about the current topics before i continue.

I have heard some nasty rumors about trying to track people down. Don’t bother. I am not, currently, one of the renegades nor is it likely that you know me. My name is just because my true tag was unacceptable by this forum so i made something up on a whim. You can even check that the account was created, although briefly, before these events happened. What I truly find amusing about the “New” club’s argument is that they believe there needs to the in the WCU Gaming Club in order for it to grow and succeed. However, I have yet to hear or see what changes they are in fact talking about. As far as I’m concerned the only changed I’ve seen that have been needed with this club are changes in the “individuals” in certain positions, as apathy has grown far too much. I went to my 1st LAN in October of 2008 under Bitey no less, and attendance only got better from LAN to LAN under his leadership, but recently I have seen backwards trend under Kaz-Ka’s leadership. I’m not saying it is all his fault, advertising, and better dates go a long ways (scheduling I would agree is his fault). Personally I don’t feel there is enough attention prior to a LAN given to how tournaments will be ran, who will run them, and often times they are just run on a wim by individuals that aren’t even execs, which can be seen by a number of tournaments over the years on the console side of things. I know for a fact that myself and ExiLe, an exec now no less, have taken control of a number of tournaments because we have a lot of tournament, and MLG style experience way from WCU.

Change can be good, but it is not always the case. But running away from the issues, making a big scene that is no way to make change or even to object against it. Peaceful action, and discussion with an open mind is the only way for true success to be attained. WCU Gaming Club meeting’s are often a circle jerk, thus why I choose not to attend them, as I have better things to do with my time. You want a better club, look in the mirror, for selfish actions are no way to better this club or others perception of you.

I agree that announcing said teams, or individuals as well as sign ups via the mic would be nice, but considering how often we wait for people to either show up for the match, or how hard it is to even track down the mic at most LANs, as there is always someone walking around with it in their pocket, the best way is to announce what we can around the actual 360 set-up, as about 90% of the tournament participants hang around the 360 tables.

And on a personal note, I don’t take to kindly to the comment about jacking it in front of the consoles all day. I bring over $700 worth of equipment to each LAN for OTHER people to use as well as myself, and I’m sure other do too, and unlike some people I don’t hoard it not allowing others to use it. So excuse me if I like to make sure my *edited* stays in one piece.

Seriously, dude. You don’t have a clue. I stopped reading your post when you said the two VPs weren’t doing their jobs.

I don’t know who you are, and to be quite honest don’t really care, in the last month the VPs have spent more time negotiating sponsorships and resources for this club with university officials than Kazka has in the last two years. You don’t see them “doing anything” because while you’re all playing in the commuter lounge they’re out there actually doing work for the club.

Also, please let us know who’s telling you we’re trying to track people down. It’s probably the same person that told Kazka “we” were planning his impeachment back in December. You want to know the truth? If I wanted to know who you were I’d go find out, takes about 15 minutes. Really easy process. Here’s some more truth: I don’t care. We don’t care. The club doesn’t care. You’re in the same boat as Liquid, you’ve been here less than 6 months yet magically know better than everyone else.

Have you ever founded a successful clan or club? Have you ever been a leader in a 500+ active member organization? If the answer is no then I by myself automatically win the experience battle.

EDIT: Also, every fight was announced. If it wasn’t it was the officers YOU ELECTED that failed to do so.

First off, welcome to the forums. Since you’ve been lurking for a while without posting, etc then you need to please understand how it looks to those such as myself that have been participating with this club for a while. The reasons as to why most are displeased over the “new club” are probably because we don’t understand the need for a separate club. We aren’t saying we don’t want the members and quite frankly, I personally do want the members to stay and believe that with proper rationale and without acting like 5 year olds things could work out fine and dandy, possibly better. The alumni and “new hierarchy which are only seen at LANS” are actually members who once went to every single meeting they possibly could, as well as the LANS, and are also members that post their thoughts, opinions, criticism, etc all on our forums for us as well as even joining our IRC to let us know. Currently the amount of commuter loungers that have joined our forums looks to be quite minimal to the amount of members we have that either joined via advertising on campus or from our online servers. If many people want the gaming club to succeed, then why is it that members such as Josh, Kazka, Liquid, 7eyesmask, Heeroshin, etc all have turned to form a “new club” instead of taking what seems to be a more responsible track to try and work things out. Shingi and Freezer both have already been working for WEEKS for this club, as Mitch stated prior, and have spent hours of their time getting everything set up, planned, organized, and back on track. The members that you say have “picked up the slack from others” are who? Are you talking about the CL’s that are pretty well active and running things? Yes, that’s what they’re supposed to do.

That’s understandable and I agree with your concern, if your area of expertise and interests are with other tournaments and such are not being announced properly then it is something that should be taken into account. When Adam, Kuros, Bitey, and myself led the club we made sure to promote every single tournament for every single venue, as well as advertise freeplay. If this meant we had to take time out of playing ourselves or paying attention to other things, then that is what was done. Being President at the LAN usually meant not being able to actually play. Your constructive criticism, opinion, and suggestion will be noted I’m sure and hopefully rectified for the future LAN event.

If the7eyesmask immediately began planning to go to Momocon then why is it that he specifically has been one to conspire against the club? His “election” to the Console VP was nothing more than a way for the “new club” or commuter lounge to keep its ties into the Gaming Club. His election was pretty shady, seeing how he’s been a member since ’08 but hasn’t posted a single time. Doesn’t show he has much interest or activity amongst the club where the most discussions take place. We, or at least I, do not hate BJ nor would have denied him power of or for the position. BJ has been a member of the club for a while and has actually provided a lot of us with input and quality information, rather than someone who hasn’t even participated in something as a forum for the club he’s wanting to be an executive for. “Manipulate him into being your tool” by the way? This implies we’ve manipulated others to “be our tool” and those people are doing things that are not of their will and consent, which is a pretty large accusation considering how we’re a sanctioned club and all. If 7eyes can browse /b/, like I’m sure he does (/sigh), then he can easily visit the forums.

Nasty rumors or trying to track people down? The only thing that anyone has “tracked down” is the fact that when Liquid and ManlyMoose were “/b/ trolling” (sorry, most kids don’t even know what a true troll is) they were warned and threatened to be banned from the forums as well as the club. They challenged the executives stating that they could not be banned and that they were not on campus, which was proven false because their IP addresses could be seen quite easily. We don’t “track people down” in any way sort of form.

Please do keep trying to get more involved with the club and its activities!
