What does this version have?
Or better yet, what did he lie about and say this version had that it really doesn’t. It’s easy to get confused because Obama himself doesn’t know what’s in the bills floating through congress.

SpectatorThis question is worthy of a double post:
Why did you, as a republican, watch his speech?
Obama said:
And to my Republican friends, I say that rather than making wild claims about a government takeover of health care, we should work together to address any legitimate concerns you may haveMost of the wild claims he’s referring to either were in the bills or still are. According to Obama, as a republican, it is your job to lay down and take any change that he and the democrats want to push out on the American people. If you have a legitimate concern, you may voice it, but it will be ignored.
Obama said:
Instead of honest debate, we’ve seen scare tactics. Some have dug into unyielding ideological camps that offer no hope of compromiseIt’s hard to compromise when the democrats want only their way. Anything other than their way means the republicans aren’t compromising enough and are using “partisan tactics” to get their way.
Need I remind you that they’ve changed the rules on this so they can break a filibuster with 51 votes? Their goal is to get the public to support this, which they aren’t. Right now support for healthcare reform is lower than it was back when Hillary was pushing it through.

SpectatorAs I descended the stairs, my roommate says “Obama is about to make a speech, don’t you want to hear? It will change history.” I promptly head back upstairs and enjoy the comforts of not being apart of history.

Better yet, why didnt you watch it? As an American, you should watch the president speak, no matter what party you are on, because he decisions are probably going to effect you.

I dont really think hes making any republicans “take it like a man” and deal with the new bill.

1) He doesn’t control what gets passed in congress.
2) He doesn’t know what congress CURRENTLY has in the bills.
3) The current bills would destroy the private industry.
4) The current bills would force me on the government plan when I graduate.
5) The current bills would force doctors to base my long-term healthcare solely on family history. With a history of heart issues, I’m a goner at or around 60.
6) He’s blatantly lied about the bills in the past. The death panels were really in there, written so vaguely that the panel could refuse care to anyone at any age for any reason. I don’t watch anyone give a speech where I know in advance they’re going to lie. That includes Algore as well.
7) I knew he’d blame the republicans for not passing this without debate or discussion.
8) I knew he’d blame the public outcry on “fear mongering”.
I can do this all day…

Actually the GOP’s plan was to fix Medicare and roll the ~30% of uninsured legal Americans who legitimately cant afford it into the financially stable version of the program. This allows everyone to use the existing infrastructure and wouldn’t interfere with the private sector.
Btw in case you weren’t aware. 21% of the uninsured make over $75,000. That kinda conflicts what you’ve been told so so here’s more to chew on. ~40% of the total uninsured have household incomes of over $50,000. When you subtract those who can afford insurance and the illegal immigrants you discover the uninsured in this country is actually a very small minority, one that can easily be rolled into an existing program without re-arranging all the pieces over.
