What I truly find amusing about the “New” club’s argument is that they believe there needs to the in the WCU Gaming Club in order for it to grow and succeed. However, I have yet to hear or see what changes they are in fact talking about. As far as I’m concerned the only changed I’ve seen that have been needed with this club are changes in the “individuals” in certain positions, as apathy has grown far too much. I went to my 1st LAN in October of 2008 under Bitey no less, and attendance only got better from LAN to LAN under his leadership, but recently I have seen backwards trend under Kaz-Ka’s leadership. I’m not saying it is all his fault, advertising, and better dates go a long ways (scheduling I would agree is his fault). Personally I don’t feel there is enough attention prior to a LAN given to how tournaments will be ran, who will run them, and often times they are just run on a wim by individuals that aren’t even execs, which can be seen by a number of tournaments over the years on the console side of things. I know for a fact that myself and ExiLe, an exec now no less, have taken control of a number of tournaments because we have a lot of tournament, and MLG style experience way from WCU.
Change can be good, but it is not always the case. But running away from the issues, making a big scene that is no way to make change or even to object against it. Peaceful action, and discussion with an open mind is the only way for true success to be attained. WCU Gaming Club meeting’s are often a circle jerk, thus why I choose not to attend them, as I have better things to do with my time. You want a better club, look in the mirror, for selfish actions are no way to better this club or others perception of you.
