My best kill this week would have to be raping Goat with a spectacular grenade kill on chateau. I was T, the bomb was planted, and my last teammate had just been gunned down on the other side of bombsite A. I was in a second floor window and decided to John Elway a frag grenade across the courtyard and into the first floor window where I deduced Goat would soon be walking. I was correct, and he was blown to hell. Love those round-winning nade kills, especially ones as seemingly preposterous as that.

Best death in recent memory was on dust2, I was T. Long story short, the other team had long A on lockdown but I hadn’t gotten the memo, so I traipsed in there and before I even rounded the double doors, I was blown to hell by two well-placed frag grenades. I was like, “Oh. That’s how it is.”

Oh, and one of the most spectacular kills in all my years of playing the game was the one Brian mentioned earlier in the thread. It was something like six or eight people, all headshots if I recall, just spraying with an AK. They were all blind but I was still basically going on a suicide run. As they kept dropping I felt like the freaking heavy from TF2, freaking just yelling like a maniac and mowing them down. Freak occurence, perhaps, but a fun one.

Frag videos are only so good, folks. If you haven’t seen it, run a search for Clan Wars on fileplanet. It’s a movie I co-directed a few years ago with some friends, done in 1.6 and Source. It’s got your explosions, blood, comedy, kung fu, Gooseman, etc. Pretty standard stuff. Also, I need not mention it, but also check out Militia 2 if you’re one of these new bloods that hasn’t seen real CS machinima.

EDIT: Apparently CW is so old that it’s become hard to find on the interwebs. Check out http://www.gwchannel.tv/ and open up the player, it’s on there.

I’ve made a final decision, so you can stop bickering now: I’ll cap the points to 10 or so.

    Thx!

Instead of a drastic change to the system, why not change the modifiers a little more. 20+ points taken per death is pretty punishing to high-ranked players when they are killed by joe bob who may never come back to the server. In the span of 10 minutes, 100 points can easily be lost. Why not decrease the point limit on how many points can be accrued for a single kill to something more reasonable, such as 10 – 15 points? Obviously the interests of the new player entering the server for the first time are the priority, and keeping the server populated is the objective. This wouldn’t hurt a new player trying to rank up. Right now, a top player would have to kill a new player (regardless of skill level) 12.5 times to get the points his opponent gets in one kill. A little balancing wouldn’t hurt.

I don’t think people would be all THAT bothered by some sort of kill amount. Whenever I’ve played on servers that have it I have seen it as just another challenge. But most aren’t as motivated I suppose.

But you’re right in saying it doesn’t hurt the top players that much. It’s just annoying to have 25 pts taken each death.

Good stuff. Thunder may actually be playable now!

I always liked thunder, even though I haven’t played it in years. This remake is decent, but it’s even more one-sided than the original. A good terrorist team is virtually unbeatable if they camp.

    Good stuff.
