I’d say it’s a nice milestone.. it’s like I just leveled up to be able to use the AUG. One day I will get the AK-47. Then all my forum posts will be headshots…

If they actually are saying that the timeline still exists, then that might mean they will keep giving references / stuff will come from it. This could be hinting at poor plot planning!

BTW Sony sent a DMCA to a ps3 custom firmware news site… Go Daddy actually shut them down. All they do is blog about what’s going on..

Edit: I do agree that their views on warranties are horrid and skewed .. BUT
Every company does this.. Don’t fail to see that these are the actions of lawyers and their actions are only to prevent Sony from having problems. They only represent Sony’s best interest as a business. I personally don’t blame Sony for how they are defending themselves legally, BUT I do get very angry when I think about all the consoles that they banned.
This will set a precedent for a number of things including if a console is your personal property (common sense), what a warranty really means, etc. Sony might find that they are currently shooting themselves in the foot.
A lot of important things are happening.. and in the meantime I can just play games on the PS3.. yeah, it’s still good for that. I’m still happy with my purchase. Even if I can’t run linux on my ps3.. I can still play cool games.
I agree with Kip that it was a good idea. I think one of the reasons that I like what they did is because I WANT MOAR STAR TREK MOVIES.
PS. I liked the last star trek TNG movie. It would be difficult to create a sequel to it though. I too believed that first contact was crap… even generations was better.
PPS. I think it’s funny that in Star Trek IV: The voyage home the whale lady states how no whale has ever harmed a human being and that Killer Whale killed his trainer last February http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2010-02-24-seaworld-whale-death_N.htm

Honestly though if they could put more sex / action scenes in the original star trek, I’m sure they would have. Captain Kirk was a playa. There weren’t any sex scenes in the new Star Trek movie though other than the Kirk hiding under the bed scene.. which only implied that something happened.
It was a good movie.. it was not a dumbed down version of star trek.. Haters gonna hate.
I’ve seen all the classic star trek movies and all the next gen movies. I think the only reason people aren’t liking it is because it’s making Star Trek more mainstream and popular to people who aren’t nerds.
I really don’t care either way. I liked the story and I liked the cast.. They could have done a lot worse..

I personally think that they shouldn’t be able to introduce many changes to the TOS once a person has made a purchase. I don’t know many people who would buy a PS3 and not have the intention of connecting to the PlayStation Network. Even though legally you are not purchasing a connection to PSN, it is implied that you will use it… Seems like complete crap that they can hide behind TOS or you can’t play bs.
All in all, I think cases of hacking consoles and other devices that YOU OWN will eventually bring about more legislation benefiting the end-user (or at least I hope so). Companies like Sony, Microsoft, Motorola, and Apple need to adjust before they get left behind.
They need to find a way to secure their code and games on their systems while still allowing the consumer to modify the hardware / software.
