It has to be called off, I will be at a drag strip, ant has is gf here, and waffle will be gone =/. We should stick to the freshman lan at the ( Beginning ) of each semester so that atleast the people know we are here. Today we are posting fliers for the 9th lan event. I am trying to finish my work for the next week.
@ Derrick, masterp, adambomb, or rob I need your guys help with the sponsor page if you would please. The sponsors should put up on main page like the DDD logo.

They’re selling us card boxes at a discount, likely 25% or so. I seriously doubt they would give us a discount below the at-cost price of the item though.
I didn’t want to be the first to say it, because every time I do it *edited*es people off, but we really need to get out of the habit of buying prizes with club money.
It’s nice to know the next generation of our leaders holds a similar mentality.
And no, I don’t think we’re buying SWAG. If we are someone needs to be tossed in a fire for epicly stupid decision making.
Yea, Mitch pretty much has the idea. We will be getting discounts on the cards for our TCG side of the club so we can hold more events like MTG drafts like FTE (Felix Takes Ecstacy) did and we will be getting free swag as well. Since we actually have sponsors now, we will only be using money to buy prizes for tournaments that we can’t get a prize for (which seems unlikely now that we have so many sponsors but even if that is the case, we still have prizes from previous LANs left over) for booking rooms, etc. you guys get the idea. By the way everyone, send me a PM with the email address of your sponsor so after the LAN, I can send the pictures out to them.

ok im just gonna say it u said they’re providing discounts r they sending discount cards to be handing out or are items being bought at a discount that they have provided. and if the latter instead of the former then who is providing the money to purchase hte discounted items? bc surely you dont plan on using club money to purchase discounted swag? and free swag here or there r they sending it for the LAN?
im sorry but it just seems really confusing and a bit un detailed and i’d like some more details so i can understand wat is going on

im glad we could get more people to sponsor us! im excited for this LAN and for doing business with these companies!And the king has been delayed XD again! DNF which was supposed to b releases may 10th in the us is now pushed back to June 17th XD
i think thats pretty feasible personally and it helps us bring business to local companies who may in the future offer sponsorships. that and i value personal interaction XD

as for numbers we need to be focusing on games that have high turn out if ppl love black ops then we need to have it….period if ppl love starcraft it needs to be there period. its about giving the people wat they want to play. and with the numbers we will get the money. with the moeny we will be able to fund more projects in the future that we want to explore.
I don’t think creating a new position is the answer. Just seems like an excuse to be lazier. You have pretty much described the duties of the marketing admin. I feel if the exec staff balanced the sponsor load it would be simple. Everything has already been done/laid out as far as who, what, when, where, and how to deal with sponsors but it just doesn’t get done. Per the constitution the president has a large roll in obtaining sponsors but he does not communicate well with other staff (he does not visit the forums), so how do you expect it to get done if no one knows the progress? This is basically all falling on waffle. So waffle needs to bring it to kaz’s attention or he should delegate to other execs. The facebook and forums are easily managed by past and current execs and it gets done IMO. If this position was created what would the marketing admin do?
Also, has the sponsor contacting even been started yet for the April lan? I seen a post with thor mentioning getting 1 sponsor but what about others? This needs to start today!
AMerrill i described a couple duties from a few positions(from my understanding) seeing as how they are all related duties and should all be done together i dont see how giving one person those one sets of duties would be an excuse to be lazier it would make things more focused. bc the person who is dong the social management would be able to go to sponsors and be like here is what we are doing and here is what we have planned nad here are pictures (and even videos?) of us doing the things nad this is the kind of turnout we are getting nad this is how we are improving things. it makes things more streamlined or focused. from the people i have heard from until dustin took over control as web master the forum was in danger of being shut down. the facebook from what i have seen doesnt have much on it. it took a long time for the pictures from the last LAN to get up. from what i see people are either already lazy or arent doing their part. these things are so inter-related that having other people work on them ALONG WITH other duties is silly. putting them all together in one position makes them streamlined and focused and lets someone put time nad effort into the thing we have to show for sponsors.
edit: upon review of my post i see that it may look hostile when read. that is not my intention i am just trying to have healthy debate.
i dont mind the wired headset personally. im using turtlebeaches right now but am saving up to upgrade and if im going to upgrade personally im gonna go with a nice pair of tritons or astros and hold on to that pair for a long time i saw some good stuff at pax while i was there so im excited
