Participantdo the black Xboxs have this same problem?
April 22, 2009 at 10:36 am #81513YouWinGameOver
Participantthe elites? yes they all have the same problem….happeneded to me recently also on my roommates xbox…just send it back for 100 bucks they have to fix it for you and you get a 3 yr warranty or something for it.

ParticipantI have personally never seen an xbox receive the circle of death, but I have heard of a few of my friends’ doing it. The did what Youwin said and got it fixed pretty easily.

Participant100 bucks for a stock bug?….
doesn’t sound right to me

ParticipantThey usually fix it for free if it’s a RRoD problem. As long as you have tampered with your xbox then they should take it in for free and fix it for you (i.e. Give you another xbox). And I actually haven’t seen any of the elites (the black ones) getting an RRoD. My xbox is still fairly new but my brothers is almost two years old and hasn’t RRoD’ed.

I was gonna say that I don’t think my friends had to pay to get theirs fixed. O well tho.

So what do I need to do, just contact them via telephone or something and they will send me a box to ship it in?Go to Xbox.com and see their support section. You’ll have to register your 360 if you haven’t already and then you’ll fill out this on-line form about what’s wrong and etc. Then you’ll get a box in the mail with postage to send it back and you just mail it off and wait for a bit.
For those who don’t know, the four segments of a ring around the power button can serve as a diagnostic indicator. They normally glow green when everything’s functioning correctly and will indicate what controllers are currently on and active. However, when you boot up your box and they flash red, that means there is something wrong with it.
Three Red Rings (the Red Rings of Death) means there’s been a critical hardware failure, mainly involving the critical components of the motherboard, video card, etc. -> http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/nxe/…tegory=hardware
That gives you the low down to double check to confirm if that’s indeed the problem and what to do to fix the problem.
Other reference.
1 Red Ring – I believe has to do with a memory problem. So a corrupted or unreadable hard drive or a memory unit is to blame.
2 Red Rings – Overheating. Fans have died or you just have it in a poorly ventilated area.
4 Red Rings – Problem with A/V cable or not detecting the cable at all. Make sure it’s plugged in all the way. If it is, buy new cable.

ParticipantYou could just follow these steps…
1) Slap yourself because you’re fat.
2) Throw your xbox 360 in the trash
3) Buy a playstation 3
4) profit.

Uh.. no thanks. I’d rather not spend the money on a system where I’m not interested in like.. any of their exclusives. Plus I hate the controller for FPS’s which is what I mostly play on consoles.

Although I do like Halo…

ParticipantYeah. I had a Playstation which was cool and a Playstation 2. But my gaming wasn’t all that extensive back then. It wasn’t until I got a Xbox with Halo one summer and then Halo 2 that fall that really changed gaming for me.
