I hate to get this started again but I about fell out of my chair when I heard this, something that’s becoming more and more common when Obama/Biden give speechs about spending.

It was my understanding that spending too much money lead to bankruptcy, not prevented it. Am I lost or ?

when you get raped for eight years the next few years aren’t suppose to be a walk in the park. And by raped, I mean totally kidnapped, butt*edited*ed, tortured, and butt*edited*ed some more. What was the republicans plan after george? Hell what is their plan now? DO they even have a plan? or is it just to point out all the flaws on the opposing side, make up a bunch of *edited*, and hope they win some votes next season. Face it, this country is *edited*ed, and I highly doubt anyone from any side can do much now or in the near future to fix it.

so hell, might as well just spend away…what’s an extra trillion these days anyway? /sarcasm

They don’t need one. Obama is winning them the popular vote all by himself. Just wait until people have to wait 3 months to see a doctor, you’re screw at that point. Then again, so is everyone.

And inb4 talking point, take a good look at Canadian and British systems without the Michael Moore smoke. No one else has ever done this well and our track record for gov’t programs (medicare/medicaid) is terrible.

Another 2 years and the deficit would have gone away on its own, in his first 6 months Obama has increased it by 5x. So yeah we’re screwed, but not by the last guy. Excellent try though.

So back to the topic Nurayz, how does spending money avoid bankruptcy?

No it’s the one that took into account the deployments ending in 2010.

Obama has put some stuff on fiscal budgets after his term. Bush never could have planned anything quite as epic as that.

As it is now, I can walk into my doctors office and be seen in less than an hour. When I’m done I leave without paying a penny.

Oddly enough, my current medical care is alot like the Michael Moore fantasyland only it’s through BlueCross/BlueShield and not the ObamaCare.

Okay, well there is no question to answer. Your question is based on a gaff, something said by a vice president who says dumb things sometimes. Kind of like a much less retarded, someone who has actually read some *edited*, Palin.

But lets get real for a second. I have blue cross blue shield also. I find it great. But I also realize we have one of the must retarded health care systems in the world. Nearly 46 million Americans, or 18 percent of the population under the age of 65, were without health insurance in 2007. Sure you can believe a good majority of those are just lazy or cheap or poor. Unfortunately, I’m the total opposite of a doooshhhbag, and care about my fellow citizens. Hell, the majority of benefits which everyone, including yourself, take for granted was legislation passed by progressive legislators. Hmm, child labor laws? clean air laws? Anyway to get back on topic…

The increase in the number of uninsured in 2006 was focused among working age adults. The percentage of working adults (18 to 64) who had no health coverage climbed from 19.7 percent in 2005 to 20.2 percent in 2006.1 Nearly 1.3 million full-time workers lost their health insurance in 2006. The percentage of people (workers and dependents) with employment-based health insurance has dropped from 70 percent in 1987 to 62 percent in 2007. This is the lowest level of employment-based insurance coverage in more than a decade. In 2007, 37 million workers were uninsured because not all businesses offer health benefits, not all workers qualify for coverage and many employees cannot afford their share of the health insurance premium even when coverage is at their fingertips. Nearly 40 percent of the uninsured population reside in households that earn $50,000 or more.1 A growing number of middle-income families cannot afford health insurance payments even when coverage is offered by their employers. Nearly two-fifths (38 percent) of all workers are employed in smaller businesses, where less than two-thirds of firms now offer health benefits to their employees.7 It is estimated that 266,000 companies dropped their health coverage between 2000-2005 and 90 percent of those firms have less than 25 employees. A study found that 29 percent of people who had health insurance were “underinsured” with coverage so meager they often postponed medical care because of costs.15 Nearly 50 percent overall, and 43 percent of people with health coverage, said they were “somewhat” to “completely” unprepared to cope with a costly medical emergency over the coming year.

Data is from National Coalition on Health Care. Biassed sure, but so is data from anyside. I’d much rather believe them, than the data coming from someone like David Gantz, a tool for the man. *edited* the man. lol

Now it may be just a bunch of statistical jibber jabber but it says something. It says our Health care system is atrocious and needs reform. I, being the progressive loving badass, am very open to universal health care. I’m tired of the insurance companies getting free rape sessions on millions of people. *edited* those guys man.

    A wall of text

That figure you gave includes the 12-20 million ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. When you remove the illegal immigrants and the people under 30 that don’t want or need insurance then the number of uninsured is actually quite low. Much lower than what most lead you to think.

O btw I’m not a douchbag. If someone doesn’t want insurance then I’m not going to change the entire system and rape those who have insurance to force it on them. If someone isn’t legally in this country, why should I pay taxes to cover them. When they revoke the automatic citizenship given to illegals born in this country that alone will fix most of the cost-related healthcare issues in 4-5 years.

It has been estimated that millions of people who have insurance and are HAPPY with it will lose it due to cost increases and employer forcing them off company plans. What about them? Acceptable losses for the greater good?

Also, what happens when BCBS can’t compete with the government plans and you lose your insurance. Will you be happy?

Also answer this, when all the current insurance companies go out of business and there is no alternative to government healthcare will you deflect blame when it turns out like every other government-run entity?

The government will only have to pay 60-75% the cost insurance companies will have to pay for the same proceedures, there’ll be no way they can compete. I assume you think that’s fair market practice.

Also, what happens when drug companies stop doing research? When you pay “too much” for drugs you are essentially donating to the development of future medicine but under the forced low costs of the government plan drug companies won’t be able to pay for research. Also, you remember all that poisoned Chinese dog food? Well under Obamacare they’ll be making your pharmaceuticals. What happens when instead of thousands of dogs dying, hundreds of thousands of Americans die because cost cutting in China ended up with toxins in your blood pressure medicine. Only an idiot would think that would never happen.

Back to the real topic though, how is that a gaffe? Obama has said virtually the same and his congress is spending insane amounts of money. Now if Obama and congress weren’t spending many times more than the “retarded” Bush I would be inclined to let this slide but the facts show that the one thing this isn’t is a gaffe.

I am poor. I want free healthcare. When I actually get a real job I will feel differently. I think everyone already knows that the obamacare helps 1 demographic and screws another demographic. Unless you and nurayz are senators that have a say in this happening, your arguing is futile.

That pretty much sums it up actually.

The problem is that under the current system, 1 demographic is happy and another isn’t. Under Obamacare, both demographics eventually become unhappy and the undo button is greyed out.

My fear is government rationing, which EVERY current system like that has. I mean yeah it’s nice when all you need is routine and everyday care but as soon as you need something epic like a Cleveland Clinic style operation you’re screwed.

I didn’t mean to call you a Dbag, just used “you” to reference you people. As in the other side of this debate.

the likely hood that hundreds of thousands of americans dying is not all that likely. I also see nothing wrong with insurance companies going out of business, they can go swim in there pool of money they got when raping america. and as it stands right now, my BCBS is about to run out, because I’m no longer eligible. Since I graduated, I have to find my own…so I definitely would like the free option lol. Also what is the point in all that research if we can’t get the benefits from it. We have thousands of americans flock to other countries every year to buy prescription drugs because they can’t afford them here.

OMG do you have any clue how many ppl BlueCross/BlueShield employs just them? That company alone is actually comprised of almost 40 independent companies (ex: Bluecross Blueshield of North Carolina), and in total BC/BS insures over 100 million people. I don’t think them going out of business would be a good thing.

also of note you can get just like catastrophe-level insurance for cheap. its less than $150/mo to insure me and my wife with accident insurance and a regular insurance (no copay/perscription drug benefits)

Every time you put a pill in your mouth you’re benefitting from research. You telling me you never take vitamins, alergy medicine, tylenol/aleve, cold medicine? I have a hard time believing that.

Go take all the pills out of your parents/grandparents cabinets and tell them they shouldn’t be taking pills made by companies that rape them. I’m sure they’ll put them back.

    NuRayZ said:

They’re cheaper for a reason. Just like Obamacare is cheaper for a reason. In healthccare, you get exactly what you pay for.

cheap meds = no quality assurance = you don’t know wtf you’re really taking

Also, because I have to ask, what’s wrong with a company making money? You pay for insurance and when you get cancer they give you all the care you need. If you need a kidney transplant you get it. Need bypass surgery, well that’s covered too. Now you may go through life without have any medical issues but odds are really good you won’t and those greedy insurance companies pay for your medical care. You can pay for the highest possible coverage for your whole life and still not come close to the cost of a complex tumor removal. Stop and think, you pay BCBS $60,000 over the course of your life and could easily end up getting $200,000 in medical care and pharmaceuticals. Who’s really getting raped here because those figures make this feel more like consensual sex.

Did you really just recommend we read DailyKos? That’s like getting healthcare reform info from iloveobama.com.

Note the ad at the bottom of that page goes to a healthcare union which supports the reform package.
