Adam FaulknerParticipantI dont know if my opinion holds for the majority of the students here at wcu, but what is the school website coming to?
We are wcu, purple and gold. We have gold and black painted on some of the buildings, makes me feel like im in Boone. Then we paint another building red.. i was looking for the GO PACK! sign on the front, and lastly the new website. Most of it is cool, obviously not for current students. It has to be geared tword new students, and ‘giving to the university’ that doesnt bother me at all.
BUT WHO CHOSE THE BACKGROUND COLOR! What part of that is wcu? its not a windows color. Its just .. eye catching at first then .. yea .. why would you put that there.
I also hear that they are retiring our web team here at wcu. Outsourcing? why would we do that? Im so confused. How are we to redesign our new gaming club site with a theme that the univ. doesn’t have copyright to?
It does kinda look cool. Just fix up our colors!

ParticipantWell lets see if I can sort some stuff out for you…
The website http://www.wcu.edu
A lot of the upper levels (read Vice Chancellors) wanted to gear the site towards attracting new students to the site (which they have done I think). The new design is somewhat of a Work in Progress, but I think its mostly content that is going to change at this point other than layout.
The web team–Jed Tate, Amy Walker and Newt Smith (director) is not being retired, they have however implimented Red Dot as their content management system to assist the different departments with getting the new content up to the new site. And the team itself is going to be very busy in the next year or so changing all the departmental pages to the new format.
I think some of the layout will change but that will be driven by the content/need for things (so complain to the departments that you want the changes made to their site)
and for the teal background…. all of ITS was like WTF Mate?!?!?!?!? and all of Web Services was like ‘we did studies and it works….cough cough*bs*cough ‘
Everyone is trying to learn the new ways to navigate the site so hopefully it will get better/you will like it more in the near future.

ParticipantSo do we agree that WCU is no longer Purple and Gold, its colors are what ever you want them to be, as adam said Stillwell was painted Red (Go Packs), another was painted Black and Gold (Go App), the website is teal (no idea who that is for), and we all wear black at graduation. Where has the purple and gold pride gone?

Adam FaulknerParticipantI dont have any problem with the new website. I just think that the color teal is .. not us. Pictures are mostly fine, because they are at the bottom and i saw they added a link to the current students.
oww and check this page out. http://www.wcu.edu/index.html
i wonder how long they will keep that page up .. i still like it.

ParticipantI still use it, I like being able to log on to WebCT and Webcat from the homepage…since that is part of my job.
