ParticipantJust so you all know its “The Dark Knight” not “The Dark Night” as the thread title suggests……
I was gonna see it last night, but work this morning doesn’t really allow me to do that.
So now I’m counting the minutes here. I’ll see it at 4:10 CDT or 5:10 for you east coast people.

ParticipantShort response:
Suck it, Joel Shumacher.
Long response:
What an excellent movie. It was ten pounds of awesome in a five-pound bag. I would not say that it was better or worse than Batman Begins, because there’s no need to put them in competition with each other. Taken together, they form the best Batman movie series ever made. It’s better than the Burton series, and (needless to say) way better then the Shumacher series. I do believe Dark Knight was significantly darker than Batman Begins, which I didn’t know was even possible. Judging from the ending, the third one might be even darker.
The Joker was fascinating to watch. Heath Ledger could act like a pro and the fact that a dead man was playing a villainous clown on screen made the character even freakier. The two ways to play the Joker are harmless prankster and murderous sociopath. Dark Knight took the latter method about as far as it can go. I thought it was interesting that they never really dealt with the Joker’s origins. They were probably trying to make him more of a presence than a human. This was a wise move. I never cared for the proposed Joker origin stories. He’s just the Joker. I wonder how his absence in the next movie will be explained.
Everybody has been talking about how impressive the Joker is, but I was surprised at how well Harvey Dent was played. It’s rare that depictions of the character go much further than Two-Face, but a combination of good writing ad Aaron Eckhart ‘s skilled acting made the pre-scarred Dent really interesting and admirable. I kept forgetting that he was going to into Two-Face. This was probably the most horrifying depiction of Two-Face I’ve ever seen. The character is usually seen with some discolored skin and weird hair, but this time, the damage actually reached the bone. I was surprised to see him get killed off, because I thought he would end up being the main villain in the third movie.
All in all, greatness. If I were to complain about anything, it would be that there should have been more scenes with Batman in action. I know there were quite a few action scenes, and time had to be dedicated to developing the new characters, but Bruce Wayne was out of costume a little too much. Still, it was wonderful.

ParticipantIn reaction on one thing Ephraim said:
I don’t believe that “2-face” was dead. All we know it that Gotham saw Harvey Dent dead, not that he turned into 2-Face. I think it just boiled down to that Harvey did die in that figuratively way, while 2 face would still live on.
i hope :X

ParticipantSeriously guys learn to black out your words if what you say is revealing anything of importance about the story, I don’t really care but I know most people like to find out for themselves what is going to happen, so if you are going to post something about a movie that is story revealing don’t just say spoiler alert and then post it a few spaces down, black out your words.

Participantsomeone for the love of god throw up a

… and i can use buttons to the left of this box….
So anyway, in response to ephraim and others…
Harvey Dent was the individual we were left to believe died. Though it is known that in the next movie two-face is the villain. JUMP TO END OF MOVIE – Batman says about remembering dent and turns his face over to the good side… after the credits, it comes back to dent and his face turns back to the bad side, a sign of what’s to come… Anywho, I love how they did two-face, in the comics and other renderings he’s always been a gruesomely disfigured man, while in movies and animateds he’s always shown with paint or such to keep him having human qualities. I love that they went hardcore on this and showed it so plainly brutal as it is meant to be. I completely agree with ephraim, heath ledger made this movie, and it surpassed all of the others. But some *edited* good acting gave this movie a lot of depth. AND WHO HATED THE UGLY FAT *edited* THAT WASN’T KATIE FREAKIN’ HOLMES!!!!!
ok and i’m done, enjoy, and if u haven’t seen the movie as of midweek… I dont’ feel a need to talk to you…
