ParticipantT-shirt Design.
Hopefully, I can crank out a few designs this summer. Especially if there are some nice moments and quotes from this next LAN.

ParticipantAlso,
Promoting the Club In General (Not just for LANs, but the Club/Community to increase awareness.)
Console Sponsors
Changing Consoles Games (Depends on Exact Release of Halo 3 and how many copies we have/can get.)
Also: Having designated free play console stations at LANs. (For games w/o tournaments, and with tournaments for PC gamers to try when knocked out or w/e.)
— Granted. I know we do that now. But maybe we should actually consider all the games that would be played during free play too, so those guys aren’t getting shifted around so often. Well.. with GH2 anyways and other 360/Xbox games.—
April 21, 2007 at 3:09 pm #20196Falcon
Participantyup, and maybe trying to figure out how it would be possible to have DEDICATED free play systems + displays
April 21, 2007 at 7:57 pm #20201Oh Malley
ParticipantMe and Akuzan talked about it. I think if we bring in old Xbox’s (since more people have those) we can use those soley for Halo 2. Tourney and free play. That leaves the limited number of 360’s we have open to Gears and other newer games for free play. That was one idea.
But I suppose I should save that for the meeting.

ParticipantI’d like to suggest that tournament maps be voted on in advance at the meetings. That way we can play what everyone likes instead of something only a handful of people have ever seen. *Cough* Contra *Cough*
April 22, 2007 at 5:42 am #20209gxti
ParticipantHey, I posted the rotation well in advance, and contra is an awesome map for competition.
April 22, 2007 at 12:32 pm #20213MasterP
ParticipantI’m not complaining about the notice given, my complaint is about how the maps are selected. As much as gets voted on at the meetings that seem kind… stupid… I would think maps would be something that gets a vote, especially since most people have a definitive preference. Perhaps this could be an option in the next application that people pick when they register for the lan.
Btw, I’m not complaining about Contra because it is a very good map for competition so long as teams are allowed to prepare in advance. It’s not the best map for throwing 24 random people in a server, randomly generating teams, and telling them to have at it. Neither of the people sitting next to me had ever played that map and I imagine they weren’t the only ones. Granted it was announced days in advance but it’s hard to find servers running Contra that are populated to practice on.
April 22, 2007 at 12:58 pm #20214Cacophony
ParticipantTo MasterP:
The WCU server played Contra fairly often and I played quite a few that had 11-12 people per side.
For a suggestion:
Since we have a whole year ahead of us perhaps we can see if we can’t get enough support to bring more RTS games into the mix for the LANs.

ParticipantIf / when we get big enough, 2-day events

Participanteh, you’re prolly right
April 23, 2007 at 12:05 am #20234Falcon
ParticipantQuake 4 as a potential game if we drop some more than the ones needed for TF2 and UT3
April 23, 2007 at 12:55 am #20237Fascist Flakes (Jagr)
Participant2-day events generally are a bad thing, we want to get the most amount of people that we can in a single event to allow us to tell larger sponsors and get them to send us more and better things (not that our current ones aren’t good or anything).
Next meeting should cover the new games, proposed schedule of games, advertising, etc. Lots to be covered and only a short amount of time to get things done before the first lan of the year. Advertising needs to go out ASAP and registration should be opened earlier, IMO. A possibility of having the council leaders being given more responsibility is good as well, especially the console council leader since he will need to organize the tournaments, free-play, etc as well as deal with sponsors, etc.

Participantwish i knew how to work photoshop, but we rewally need to work on new banner and flyers now. really no reason to wait till the event. you guys that know how to make some good stuff summit it. get your artwork on a banner/flyers.
April 23, 2007 at 1:46 am #20241Fascist Flakes (Jagr)
ParticipantWell, if we had more time we could possibly go enlist the help of some of the graphic design majors in the art department to help us out with the fliers.

Participanti was making the point that you dont need to be at school to use photoshop or other picture editing software.
April 24, 2007 at 1:16 am #20284Oh Malley
ParticipantIf we need to.. I say we make two versions of the fliers.. one for consoles and one for PC. I can work on some ideas for console-ish ones.
April 24, 2007 at 2:16 am #20286gxti
ParticipantWe’re already doing that for the LAN flyers, so I don’t see why not.
April 24, 2007 at 12:47 pm #20290Cacophony
ParticipantI had an idea that along with the small fliers you could have a couple of bigger fliers to put in major traffic areas that had the schedule for events on it (IE: Begins at X time, CSS at X time, Halo at X time, etc.).
That would probably cost more money and the schedule would need to be ironed out well in advanced so that may not be a good idea.
April 24, 2007 at 1:17 pm #20293Akuzan
Participantwell that would be a better idea then just saying there is a lan and people wondering when all the tournies they want to play in are starting.
April 24, 2007 at 2:51 pm #20304Oh Malley
ParticipantWell need more people on the forums just as much as at LANs. So running the ad on TV62 next semester as well as flyers promoting the forums will help out both situations.
Falcon, I´ll try and record some more Halo, Gears, and Vegas at some point, just so we have a bit more content to choose from.
April 24, 2007 at 3:23 pm #20306Falcon
ParticipantAlright… I’ll be putting together video footage this summer, this semester’s too crazy.
