For those curious folks…
Currently, our server is equipped with the following:
Processor: Dual AMD Opteron 250 64-bit @ 2.4GHz
Memory: 12GB
Hard Drive: Six 128GB RAID5 = 768GB
OS: Windows Server 2003 Enterprise
hah, who uses ipods…. actually, im gonna get one to install linux on it! then i can play the original Doom!
oh, btw. by the end of the year, im building a new server. here’s the specs (roughly; probably better than what im putting here).
dual, dual core opteron (italy core; and yes, thats FOUR(4) processors!) @ 2.4Ghz
8 200Gb Maxtor HDD 7200RPM 8MB Cache on RAID 5 = 1.4TB
8GB pc3200 RAM (possibly more)
looking at HighPoint ROCKETRAID2200 PCI-X SATA controller card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16816115022 any comments/sudgestions?)
motherboard… undecided. sooo many choices. probably along the lines of the GIGABYTE GA-7A8DRH (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813128276 again, comments/sudgestions).
and oh yeah…. it will run linux!
it beats my 500mhz p3 overclocked to 800mhz server w/ a 200gb hdd 
and my 300mhz proxy
and my computer!
hell, while im at it, heres all of my my computers i use all the time (not including the 5 others laying in piles
)
