ParticipantI was wondering if anyone here plays on linux (cuz I assume people do). I just converted to Ubuntu and I am having trouble getting steam to work under wine. Does anyone do this? If so, would you be able to help me? Thanks

Wine doesn’t work well for windows emulation on things like that. There’s another one out there, you have to pay for it, but its the best.

Both claim to do it, but both require money. I hear you can run it with wine too, but if it doesn’t work well than it isn’t worth it. More feedback all!!!

ParticipantPut Windows on it. Problem solved. Superior product anyways.

Participantwell i do have windows on it. Currently dual booting. I want to fully convert. Superior only because programs are writtin for it. More and more companies, though, are starting to write for linux as well. The open-source attitude is the reason why i converted.

ParticipantI have tried installing steam using cedega and I had trouble with it. I know a few people who use Cedega to play cs with a small performance hit. I do not know too much about Crossover, but I have heard that it would probably run steam and play cs better than wine or Cedega can. I recently installed Steam using WINE, but it was pretty buggy.

ParticipantOr you could install Windows, not have to tweak anything and take a zero performance hit. Use your friggin head.
