ParticipantOK something needs to be done if we have servers that aren’t being popped and haven’t been popped in a while we need to bring then down till we can get the upgrades needed because this is causing trouble across the board with insane lag and crashed due to running out of resources on tron . Witch in turn is causing our servers to go from half full or full to empty in a mater of Min’s i know there is a problem and i know it is trying to be fixed

ParticipantHow many servers do we currently have and how many people play in each? Im with ex if there are empty servers and have been empty for some time why not bring em down?

Participantshutting down servers that aren’t even populated doesn’t play a big part here…
If they are lagging that noticeably and that often then something else is going on. As I am sure you already know it is spring break for WCU so don’t expect much until next week.

ParticipantThe servers were empty. Like I posted in the other thread, unless something crashed and then magically fixed itself this isn’t something we can control.

ParticipantThe 1.6 server had some crazy lag spikes today in the late afternoon. The lag spikes came hard right after I got a message from the WCU group informing me about fun night on the WCU CS:S GunGame server. I checked the WCU Source GG server and there were 12 people in it. While the 12 were in that server, the WCU CS 1.6 server was lagging so hard that everyone dropped from the 1.6 server. Then when the WCU CS:S GG started to empty out, the 1.6 server started to return back to normal. I heard that all the servers were lagging today in the late afternoon from Adam37, but this is what I noticed from watching both servers. Maybe there is a correlation…

ParticipantThe servers don’t create much overhead when they are empty unless they are using bots.

ParticipantCan you guys please TELL SOMEONE when the servers are lagging. If we can’t see what the problem really is we’ll never be able to fix it. I’d like to look into this but posting about it later is about as useful as not posting at all.
Next time it’s lagging please tell me on Steamfriends. CSSGG shouldn’t be the problem as we’ve drastically reduced the load it creates over the last 2 days.

Previously lag was generally due to I/O spikes. Watch the drives carefully.

Participanthonestly i noticed it before people started arriving to fun night .. we only had 2 people on and source server had like 18-19 people
I was trying to figure out if it was the quake sounds that I just installed so I unloaded quake sounds and then the lag was still there… I don’t think it could have been the gun game server because we’ve had the same amount of people on before under the same setup and nothing has done that before… later last night we had like 10 people on and source server had 17 and there were no lag spikes and I was using the quake sounds
It wasn’t me
