ParticipantI know there are a lot of really good and great Smash Brothers players here at WCU. I was wondering perhaps there could be some type of Smash Brothers tournament at the Lan? I know quite a few people that would love to attend and participate, and I’m sure there are quite a few more I don’t know that would love to. We could play it either on a Wii or the Gamecube, and it wouldn’t be hard to find someone with a Gamecube with 4 controllers and a person with Smash Brothers.

ParticipantIf you could arrange it amongst yourselves that would be fine, but it won’t be officially backed and there will be no prizes. It’s too late to add a new tournament.

ParticipantLook at it this way:
If you convince them to come and the executives notice how popular it is, then they will be more convinced to fully support the concept at the next lan, offering prizes and possibly seeking out sponsorships from console companies, etc. If people play in tournaments only to win prizes and such and not the “fame”, “glory”, and sheer fun of it all then they don’t deserve to be playing in the first place IMO. If they want to be competitive gamers and only play in tournaments for prizes and money, tell them to go move to Korea where gaming is an actual profession.
Convince people to come play, show off how much of a populous there is and popularity there is for console gaming as well as Smash Brothers.

ParticipantOur lans aren’t about prizes, and Flakes hit it right on the money. It’s about the community, and the WCU Gaming Club has one hell of a community.

ParticipantI wasn’t saying we aren’t gonna give out prizes, just that it’s too late for this time. But yeah, the realgamers will come out just for the fun.
