ParticipantOk before you decide to burn me at the stake i joined the SGA today, but only because I feel not all clubs on campus are being treated fairly. So on behalf of the gaming club I just wanted you guys to know about this:
“Article III: Part II Clubs & Organization Authority (30%)
Section 802.8
Each club that receives SGA funding for the fiscal year must have a member who will act as their primary liaison to the SGA Office. That individual assumes the responsibility for the financial affairs of their club\organization. Two student representatives and an advisor will have their signatures authorized at the beginning of the year and thus the Club’s account is activated. Club\Student Organizations must attend SGA General Body meetings. Missing more than 2 SGA General Body meetings per semester will prevent the Clubs\Student Organizations from receiving supplemental funding for the remainder of that semester.”
I will most likely be able to attend these meetings since they are right before senate but if someone else wants to come as well just so there is a back up thats would be great.
The meetings are every first Thursday of the month @ 6, in or around the place where we hold our gaming club meetings.

ParticipantMy understanding is that we were attending the meetings faithfully until we had our run-in with their “finance committee”, or lack thereof.
Can’t really understand if NoDice is asking a question or commenting (your online English sucks Dice) but I think he’s trying to say that according to the club constitution it is the vice president’s job to attend these meetings.

ParticipantYes I am aware of this and had already planned on attending but I see no reason why Thor can’t do it if it fits his schedule better.

ParticipantI am just trying to help. NoDice is correct we do have a position already in the constitution for someone to attend the SGA meetings. Thanks Dice for pointing to the Constitution:
“It is the duty of the Vice President of Administration to assist the President in securing and maintaining sponsorships as well as to notify active members of the Club of all events and meetings the executive staff shall plan. It is also the duty of the Vice President of Administration to represent the organization to the Western Carolina University student government association when necessary as well as serve as a lesion between the two representative bodies.”
There is no reason why we can’t have more than just the VP of Administration attend the SGA meetings. I wrote this position like I did because we need to have someone from the upper executives attend the SGA meetings, because not only would it look good on our part that the VP attends the meetings, but if SGA had any questions about our financial standings or our activities there would only be one other person better suited to answer the questions, the President. But since it is the duty of the president to oversee the club and its activities, he is typically too busy. Especially since it is primarily the duty of the President to seek and maintain new Sponsors. As Club finances does not need to be shared with everyone and as the President and Vice President should know the financial standings of the club at all times. I am not saying that club finances need not be made public but as I am aware at this time club finances have never been posted on this forum and thusly are not made public. If I am mistaken I am sorry.
I’m not trying to step on any toes, just trying to better inform anyone who would like to know what the duties are of the Vice President of Administration and why those are the duties that I gave that position.
