So as some of you know, I am a new 360 owner, and I thought I would help out by giving my impressions of some of the games I have picked up on the cheap. It’s nice to know what “old” games you can get for your system without breaking the bank, especially if you are starting out. So here is my first mini-review.

    BATTLEFIELD_BAD_COMPANHY_xbox360.jpg

    Price: $19.97 from amazon

Sequels: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 –$56.99 from amazon

    Overall:

I think this is a great game. It is certainly a visual spectacle, and I love being able to blow a hole in the side of buildings. The story might not be befitting of a Hollywood movie, but who cares, this game does accomplish the important stuff, mainly good non-stop action (with some good humor along the way). The healing system kinda sucks because you heal yourself with a magic syringe whenever you want (I actually prefer COD’s method) but I guess it is no less realistic than hiding for a few seconds in COD. Unfortunately though there is virtually no penalty to dying, as you just respawn in a different spot with all the enemies you had killed already being dead. Still, there is a reason this is a Platinum Hits game and it is a must-have for any new xbox owner.

    Pros:

    – Solid campaign, lots to build on here

    – Your squadmates are actually helpful in a firefight (most of the time)

    – Some hilarious dialogue between your squad mates

    – Levels are somewhat free-form, but linear enough to keep you on track

    – Excellent physics

    – Best destructible environment I have seen in a game

    – Beautiful visuals

    – Guns have that classic Battlefield feel

    Cons:

    – Your squadmates must have the best vision ever. They call out enemies miles away and such, before they are visible to you, even when zoomed in.

    – Can only carry one regular gun at a time (though not a big deal if your secondary item is something like a rocket launcher)

    – Each mission is too drawn out, though the game itself is pretty short

    – You heal yourself with a magic syringe

    – Annoying cutscenes

    My Score:

    8.5/10
