Personal Portals

This is a suggestion, not a request. Reason for this is, to be honest, it doesn’t matter to me whether you do it or not, lol. However I do think it would be great for the forums.

 

It’s a feature that’s already built into the current forum system used here today. It’s called “Personal Portal”. Basically what it does is take the default member profile pages, which leave alot to be desired, and turn them into a personal portal. To understand what I mean, I’ll show you.

Pay no attention to the skin on my forums (Although my work is beautiful if I do say so myself), but pay attention to the page itself. Thats what the profiles HERE could look like. All the same information will still be there, plus more. Friends lists, etc. Because you’re not a member of my forums (which is not a plug, I assure you), you can’t see it, but down the middle would be all your recent posts/topic.

Not a bad idea. I doubt I would ever use it but still kinda cool.

That’s just it. There’s nothing really to use in there besides the friends and message system. Most of it is dynamic.

 

Think of it as turning a profile page that shows just a small portion about you to a profile portal that shows EVERYTHING.

can you make groups in the portal?

 

friends group, server groups, team groups, exc…?

 

 

might be a way to get some of our lost members back, if they had their “click’s” page and would not need to go off creating their own websites…. just sayin

For some reason when i saw “portal” i thought of the game. So I (before reading) thought of little buttons on the side of the forums that lead to parts of the forums you visit the most for ease in navigation.

 

 

BUT, i really like the idea of personalized pages, they do it on JSP and its uber fun. they can get excessive but its iight lol

Those features aren’t built in, HOWEVER, there are mods that can extend it to do that.

 

And having your own website is fun. I LOVE having my own site….than again, I’m the guy that skinned a forum in 5 hours. So I have talent. (That was this forum, by the way)

 

On a side note, dice, I should totally put my leet skillz to use and make you a new sig image:P

I was going to say that there were some features that I noticed that we used to have. We used to have a section where it said what thread you commented in or read last.

There’s one of two people who could have turned it off…and lets just say, their names are no longer in my Vocabulary, but are now in my ignore list:)

I see it’s been changed. Can the font color for the modules in our profiles be set to black? Light colored font on a light colored background = hard to read.

 

To be specific, it shows up as white on a very light blue background when you’re viewing someone’s profile and you click on Options on the left and the drop-down menu shows up (it has the options to view the profile, view member posts, view member topics, etc.)

 

It’s also like this when you’re viewing your own profile; there are more drop-down menus there. They’re located in the modules for Options, Personal Info, Contact Information, and Comments (but not in the drop-down menu for this; it’s just the text that’s there before the other options drop down).

I’m currently working on fixing the bugs to the skin right now. As well as making it gallery compatible.

Thanks for making font color black.

 

No offense, but I liked the buttons the way they were and I prefer the stars to the controllers. :/ I switched to IP.Board Pro, though, so I don’t have to look at them.

 

Edit: Went back to the WCU Pro 1.5 skin cuz IP .Board Pro doesn’t show the “WCU Online Gaming Club > Club Information > Request A Change” (or whatever section you happen to be in) at the bottom of the page, which I happen to use a lot.
