Off Campus Games

Hey everyone,

 

It has recently come to my attention that several of you are having issues playing games on off-campus servers. While I would prefer everyone to play on the On Campus game server I realize that it only hosts a limited number of games, so you have to go off campus to play the others.

 

I am working with the folks in networking to resolve these issues and I need your help with it.

 

If you are having troubles connecting or having low ping response from off campus game servers please let me know.

 

The information I need is the Game Name, and the port number(s) the game uses. If you are not sure how to find the port number for a game there is a free utility available at Sysinternals: (http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/TcpView.html) Just open your game, connect to a server, minimize it and then run tcpview it should show you the IP address and the port number (example: 152.30.192.240:27016 this is one of the port numbers for counterstrike)

 

Once you have this information, please email it to me at my work email: jelley@email.wcu.edu

 

I’ll pass the information on to networking and once the changes have been made you should see an increase in the ability to play the games off campus.
