No respect

Hey i dont what happened to the server ever since the restart… I mean before hand people never disrespected anyone and now all the admins just talk a whole lot and mute you so you cannot defend myself. Well i dont know before the stats were restarted the admins showed respect to people but now they just act like there greater then everyone else. I mean im in the server as *EDITTED FOR PRIVACY* but idk people lost respect. We need to restrict the number of admins there are

So that I can look this up in the logs, when did this happen and which admins were doing it?

 

Also, did you do anything that might have instigated this such as trash talk players or disrespect the admins?

Well I dont know which admin it was but he went by the name of Ex and it was last night and there have been recurring themes in the past but i cant tell you which admin it was sorry. Just thought i would bring it foward.

OK so lets see here yes i kicked you and i silenced you i will in no way argue those facts but lets see what lead up to these actions being brought against you shall we .

For several rounds you did nothing but talk trash to your teammates and disrespecting them . i over looked it to see how long it would go on before action was taken . Im sure if needed this info could be found in the server logs . The following link has the rules for our servers and there is a list of rules as you enter each of our servers http://www.wcugaming.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=10760 if you look at rule 13 on said page as to first you were kicked and finally you were muted . And i haven’t seen a real change in the admins other than not taking any crap off peep and enforcing our rules if you do something that is disruptive to the server you get dealt with simply put .

On 90 percent of the servers online today the server rules are posted as you enter the server where you hit ok by hitting ok you are agreeing to the server rules or you shouldn’t hit OK and join the server now its not the responsibility of the admins to make sure you read the rules but it is the responsibility of the admins to enforce said rules .

First of all ex they started the whole by harrasing me and calling me bad and saying other mindless **** that i didnt want to hear. And as a player if a admin wont defend me or tell them to stop i have to argue back. Frankly you need to take the bias you have out of it because that is ridiculas. You apparently walked in way to late because i was defending myslef since no admin was doing it for me. So next time enforce the rules for everyone or knowone

Well if they said something it wasn’t heard and all i saw was you and what you were typing . And 2 wrongs do not make a right i saw you doing this and i handled what i saw . You were able to find our website so you could have went to our irc channel or made a post about said people and the way they were acting but i didnt see this happening all i saw was what you had been saying up to the point you were kicked/muted

Oh right and this blanked my mind until just now but here is how ex told me to stop he said STFU in chat. just plain old chat not like a private pm or anything like that just in regular say STFU. Also after he silenced me i was harrased by the same people who were like OH COOKIE SAY SOMETHING COOKIE SAY SOMETHING. And what happened to them? oh right nothing. My bad probably coulda handled that one better

yes i did because you had just told another person the same thing and that was added disruption to the server You fail to realise willis that they know everything that was said as it is in the servers logs everything you had said and everything i said i have nothing to hide . had i heard or seen these other people your speaking about i would have handled them as well but as you said i was to late so all i had seen was what you yourself had said and i acted according to it

 

 

 

ps just a side note if you have a problem with a player in our servers you can join our irc channel from our website and voice your problem there or on our forums instead of trying to take care of it yourself because when you try to take care of it yourself you could get yourself in trouble

Look. This isn’t my place, considering how I’m waiting on a decision from the higher ups regarding myself, but as someone who WAS an admin (and hopefully will continue to be soon) and is part of the community I feel an obligation to respond, and I have to agree with Willis here. It’s completely ridiculous to tell someone “shut the *edited* up”, and when they don’t, you kick or mute them. If he’s saying there was crap going on before you got there, you have to realize what’s going on. Even then, after you took action on him, did you take any actions on people that were goading him while he was silenced? Doesn’t seem quite fair to me, if you get my gist.

As an admin in this community, we have an obligation to follow and enforce the rules. That means finding out exactly what is happening in a given situation before acting out with admin powers that may accomplish nothing but cause people to look badly at the server and it’s administration. You’ve been here long enough, actually I think longer than any other regular admin, to know what you should be doing in a given situation. From what it seems, you didn’t do *edited* to see what was going on. And unless Willis is lying, which I don’t think he is, you didn’t do what you should have.

Sorry this happened to you Willis. I’m sure that someone higher up will look through the logs, see exactly what happened, and take the necessary actions.

All i want is what i am owed dont just tell me to get over it. As a admin you need to handle situations better please. I hope this is the last time we have this issue and probably is because im not gonna play in a server with poor admins and poor players. Sorry to the community here because a lot of you guys are good players and good people but it just takes one in the group to ruin it.

I was trying to say this earlier but everytime I went to write something down all I could do was say that Ex needed to look at the situations better in the future and Willis needs to understand that although he is mad he really needs to think what he says through.

The only thing I see in the server logs is you. Here’s what the logs say:

Now I don’t know what was said over voice but from what I DO see in the logs I can’t in good conscience punish the admins for this.

screams to me of someone else saying something on voice. And you pointed out exactly the problem. There’s nothing you can do about people saying things on voice that aren’t heard, because they can’t be recorded (unless you decided to log all voice use on the server, and with that you’d run through a huge amount of hard drives faster than a dog eats it’s food.

 

Obviously, Ex can’t be “punished” for this. That would be *ridiculous* right? If evidence isn’t in the logs, it just isn’t in the logs. But that doesn’t mean that said admin can’t try harder to get a grasp on the entire situation in hand, rather than jump in midway. Because, lets be honest. If you’re playing and someone is talking *edited* to you over mic, sure you can mute them. But with alltalk the way it is, when you are dead the muting goes away and they can talk to you more. People know this. When they continue talking *edited* to you, goading you, calling you names, etc., eventually you’re going to snap. You’d expect an admin to do something about said *edited*. But instead of dishing out an even punishment, you get kicked because the admin tells you to “stfu”, and doesn’t even identify himself as an admin to start with. He’s *edited*ed. You would be too.

I realize that Liam, and I’m not defending his whole rage fight with Ex. But what I’m saying is that you’d also be angry if that happened to you, and would want something done about it. He started off the thread alright, but then he and Ex just went at it. Cross out those posts and he’s got a pretty valid point.

What gets me is he went off on a rage in-game and then got *edited*ed when an admin dealt with the only side he could could see. If players are having problems, TALK TO THE ADMINS. Believe it or not, they WILL help you if you explain your problem and ask nicely. Had Cookiecutter told Ex that people were harrassing him over voice I can’t imagine Ex ignoring it.

all in all, you should not have acted back in the way you did. also, you should have told us that you retaliated with such words and acted in that way. and Ex should have warned you first more politely or handle the situation by telling everyone to stop trash talking.
