ParticipantSpeedtest.net has been getting some funky reads. I suggest trying the internet speed test at toast.net

Participanttheir graph says 2.5Mb, not 2.5MB… I mean I know nothing about toast so idk just an observation.

ParticipantI find it unlikely that several speednet servers at various locations put me at 24-28Mbps and this one puts me at 2.5. Do the math and it’s at least pretty close to the other tests. I’m fairly certain they meant MBps. I usually download from the net at ~ 2MBps so…that would make more sense.

ParticipantKeep in mind your Time Warner has turbo-boost. You’ll get faster DLs but that’s not your real speed as it backs down after a prolonged use.

ParticipantYou won’t even get it sustained on downloads. It lasts maybe a minute then backs down to the normal speed.

well I have a 3Mb connection and I just ran the same test as you and got 1.5Mb/s; I cannot possibly have 9Mb so I think toast is just fail lolToast is not fail sir, it just looks at the glass as half empty and doesn’t get your hopes up. Because realistically you may be downloading at fast speeds but you will only be able to receive the information as fast as your hard drive can process it. But you guys already know that.

300 MBps is a great deal more than 20Mbps. (120 times the speed of the internet connection to be exact). I don’t think HDD I/O writes are the problem. It also interfaces at 3.0 Gbps maximum write (150 million times the speed of the internet connection). Pretty sure it’s just a *edited*ty website for speed test evaluation. Cache the page and the reload it and you can triple your score…that already makes it a trivial test.

ParticipantI don’t have an ultra hard drive. I use a penny per transfer hard drive…
