ParticipantMy mother and I made peanut brittle for our friend, Jane. She had me drive it over to her today. On the way, I stopped too suddenly at a red light and the box flew out of its seat. The brittle spilled all over the floor, so I stopped at a gas station to scoop it back in. I tried to make sure there was as little dirt and hair attached as possible. After I delivered it, her grandson and nephew began eating the peanut brittle happily as I watched and asked them what they wanted for Christmas. I couldn’t help but feel a bit guilty.
Merry Christmas and Happy belated-Hanukkah!

Participant“Xmas” is actually a Christian abbreviation, one whose origins date back at least a thousand years. The term derives from the Greek letter chi, which resembles the English letter X and is the first letter in the word Christ as it is spelled in the Greek alphabet. References to “XPMas” as an abbreviation for “Christmas” can be found as early as the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle in 1021 CE. (The P is the Greek letter rho; the chi-rho combination is an ancient Christian symbol known as the Labarum.)
Look it up
