Mitch calls ’em like he sees them, and that is what it looks like. I mean maybe you guys are not intentionally trying to oust us, but it’s what it feels like, it’s what it looks like, and even what it sounds like… What else do you expect us to think? I mean maybe you guys are just voting in games that you want to play, which is fine we pretty much did the same thing. But what we never did is vote in and host a tournament on consoles that would take away from the meaning of consoles. This is exactly what you are doing by allowing a game like Guilty Gear to be voted in and hosted on PCs, what part of Guilty Gear makes it a PC game, what part of Guilty Gear makes it a new hip game that is offered on PCs? If you can’t make points that will make a full-blown PC player like MasterP want to play that game, then it shouldn’t be a hosted tournament, free play, hell yeah go for it! My main point is I really think you should stop voting in games that are more console related, that are old, that not many people want to play. I know there aren’t many PC players like us old-timers left on campus anymore, but there has got to be some out there and I think that to get them there you need to be playing the games on PC that are popular. Just because you play MW2 on the 360 does not mean that everyone will want to play it on there, it has already been said how much PC players LOATHE using the joysticks for aiming. It is OK to run the same game on different devices especially when it is PC and Console.
Play games and have fun, but seriously think about what you are voting in and how it comes across to us who care about this club, and have a lot of time invested into this club, we don’t appreciate the way that we are currently being treated. If you want less drama from us stop messing with what made this club great to us, there is no reason or need for that.

Participantjust FYI, MW2 would probably be impossible to have as a PC tournament.
Here are some suggestions for PC games to consider in the future (which we have never hosted):
Battlefield 2
Call of Duty: World at War
Call of Duty 2
Battlefield 2142
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
Unreal Tournament 3
Company of Heroes
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II
World in Conflict
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3
Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
Command & Conquer: Generals
Supreme Commander
Age of Empires III
Sins of a Solar Empire
Empire: Total War
Civilization IV
Rome: Total War
Battlefield 1942
Star Wars: Empire at War
Serious Sam II
Halo 2
Halo
Half-life 2: Deathmatch
And of course the old fallbacks:
Counter-Strike 1.6
Counter-Strike: Source
Day of Defeat
Day of Defeat: Source
Call of Duty 4
Unreal Tournament 2004
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2
Quake 3 Arena
Warcraft 3
Starcraft
Team Fortress 2

Just host them on someone’s computer… I’m sure you could have mw2 at the LAN.

Matchmaking like we do it is extremely hard and very limited. We used to be able to toss 30 people in 1 server but now it’s limited to 18.

I’m a PC gamer, and I enjoy playing GG. What makes Mitch’s opinion more important than mine?
My main point is I really think you should stop voting in games that are more console related, that are old, that not many people want to play. I know there aren’t many PC players like us old-timers left on campus anymore, but there has got to be some out there and I think that to get them there you need to be playing the games on PC that are popular. Just because you play MW2 on the 360 does not mean that everyone will want to play it on there, it has already been said how much PC players LOATHE using the joysticks for aiming.
This is actually a reason we are holding GG on PC, because we don’t like using xbox controllers for fighting games.
It is OK to run the same game on different devices especially when it is PC and Console.
I would like to bring up the reason many people are against holding Brawl and Melee: diversity. If the people who criticize lack of diversity in running both Brawl and Melee, they will criticize running MW2 on PC and 360.
Play games and have fun, but seriously think about what you are voting in and how it comes across to us who care about this club, and have a lot of time invested into this club, we don’t appreciate the way that we are currently being treated. As a club, we should host what what people at the LANs will play. If people want to play something, they should go to the meetings, vote for it, and play it at the LAN. GG players have been doing this, others haven’t.
Trust me, if there was a conspiracy, we’d be holding Minesweeper tournaments.
Since I don’t feel like like chopping your quote into bits and pieces, I will insert my comments in bold in the quote.

It’s not a family or a business. It’s a club. We have to do what is popular. If anyone has a problem with the games that are being voted in, come to the meetings and support for what you vote for by going to the LANs.

ParticipantThe meetings are just as important as the LANs are.
Enough people showing up to vote a game in is the work that must be done to reap the reward of having the game at the LAN.
If you don’t work for a reward, don’t whine when you don’t get it.
(Don’t get me wrong, I am all for the rule Shingi suggested a while back of having the highest attended games voted in automatically.)

Exactly my point, you talk to the founder of the club and he will tell you what he felt like the “club” was. Although it is still a club, to most of us it became a family, it is something that we try to pass down to the current execs and club members, the friends I made in the club are still with me and still close. Yeah we come together to play games that we love, I agree that you have to do what is popular, so do what is popular for PC on the PC not what is popular for console on the PC. I don’t get this BS about GG is popular to you and you are a PC player? Listen I like to play NES SNES and PS2 on my computer and arcade games through a MAME, but guess what if I only played those things that would not make me a PC player, so it doesn’t make you one either, or anyone else. The games that should and need to be played on PC have been listed, so ignore like I know you will and continue on, we’re just annoying flies anyway and have no idea what we’re talking about.
March 5, 2010 at 8:48 pm #98189melatonin
ParticipantYep, I’m a PC player.
I play Warcraft, World of Warcraft, Team Fortress 2, BattleForge, Half-Life 2, Portal, Age of Empires, Rollercoaster Tycoon (still a very fun game), Cave Story, Oblivion, and more.
Please don’t make assumptions about me.

If this is true, we should allow people to vote over irc. After all, if someone off-campus can vote on games, they are more likely to show up to the LAN. Also, at the last meeting, two people who were not at the meeting or irc ha their votes counted.

There’s been concerns over vote stacking on IRC.

Bull*edited*. At one meeting, Fascist Flakes got enthusiastic about a tournament, and jokingly typed down its name a few times. A few corrupt individuals then accused him of vote stacking. If we are going to count the votes of a handful of the president’s friends who couldn’t make the meeting or irc, then we should count online voting.

I was referring to the ease of sockpuppetry.
I would be for online voting if there was a way to prevent fraud.

That’s just more of Kazka’s made up bull*edited*. IRC has never been used to stack votes. Never. Not once.
You console players on the other hand HAVE stacked the votes for PC games on multiple occassions to directly sabotage the PC side, then bragged about doing it. That’s right, you bragged about voting in bull*edited* games. If it’s stacked votes you fear, take a good look at who you hang out with because they’re the only ones who have ever done it. And by ever I mean since the club was founded.
I do thank you for at least admitting that you’re putting console games on PC because you simply want to play more console fighters, not because it’ll attract PC gamers. It’s more honesty than we’ll ever get out of the president but hey that’s what we’ve come to expect.
Btw, since you’re a PC gamer, post your steamid so we can see what games you like to play and how often you play them.

Most of them do run badly on my laptop.
My desktop is at home, so I play PC more during the summer. I don’t crave PC games enough to upgrade my laptop or haul my desktop to campus.

I play on a laptop too.. and with fps scripts my laptop runs all source games fine.. css orange box etc.. but l4d2 is another thing.. work with your config and you’re almost guaranteed to get 30+ frames more
Also try running on dxlevel 81

Definitely some good games listed there and I didn’t assume anything about you, I made an educated guess based on what facts I have before me. For someone fighting so hard for the opposite of what every other PC player here wants it is hard to see your point of view without thinking that it is skewed, you know?

I’m going to be back on campus in a week or so. Hit me up some time and I’ll get your laptop running like a champ.

Im working on getting us a room. The whole thing with LMP fell through so Im trying to get us Brown. Worse comes to worse, we’ll have to do the multi rooms idea.
March 8, 2010 at 6:00 pm #98293Bitey
ParticipantI know Brown may be attractive because of space but you may just want to get the multi-purpose rooms and call it win, the last LAN that was hosted in there was successful.
