Participantjust raising this as a comment on behalf of the players that were there when I was playing in the server earlier (a packed full server), they were mildly annoyed and demanded a map change every time de_inferno came up. After inquiring to see if there were any objections and seeing none, I’d pass votes for office, dust, dust2, italy, and anything else they mentioned. So, council leader(s), I just wanted to note this for your consideration. that is all.

ParticipantInferno is a good and balanced map, well designed and played in leagues. I don’t believe we should be removing it from the list. Most people will only want to play Dust, Dust2, Aztec, Office, etc all the time because that is a common map that everyone plays 24/7. There are plenty other maps provided by Valve but they typically tend to be EXTREMELY one-sided, so everyone chooses the maps they feel to be fair and balanced. Perhaps we could also add some custom maps onto the server for *edited*s and giggles every once in a while but not including them into the rotation. I believe we need to enable map voting at the end of the time per map as well as allow people to start map voting via “rockthevote” or something similar so that if a map gets stuck on something the general mass doesn’t want to play then they can change it to something more enjoyable. I wouldn’t mind seeing maps such as de_cpl_fire or something added but I’m not exactly holding my breath for it to be added, much less played a lot

Participantlooks like we need a council leader….
January 27, 2007 at 1:53 am #15557Kuros
ParticipantAs co-interim council leader I am standing by gxti’s decision on end of map voting. I like it just the way it is, cause we don’t play the same maps over and over and over this way.

ParticipantI despise CPL maps. Also, people who whine about inferno should be shot
January 27, 2007 at 2:36 am #15559Falcon
Participantthey were. I managed to get a few of them while clearing the map for either team
– there’s one particular unnamed spot on that map that i think is close to t spawn, but anyway, noone ever checks it and you have a lovely long alley for snipin, or even jumpin out and chasing down unsuspecting ct passersby for the knife killJanuary 27, 2007 at 3:41 am #15560Mr. Freeman
ParticipantMap voting is the most aggravating thing to ever happen if you play the same server for more than an hour.
Just my .02.
I -love- it the way it is.

ParticipantI mean, I’m inclined to agree with you, I much enjoy that map. I’d actually dare to say that it’s my second favorite (as evil as it sounds I can’t get enough of snowman destruction on the office map). And when I was picking maps to pass votes on, I was seeing some names that I hadn’t seen before, so I’d maybe even be in favor of expanding the list in rotation. But as for this thread, just thought I’d raise mention of this demand

Participantde_nuke and de_prodigy ftw…and now that pwnasaur is here, expect me to be in source a whole lot more.
January 27, 2007 at 11:42 pm #15565Fascist Flakes (Jagr)
ParticipantI absolutely despise Nuke, especially CT side. Trying to decipher whether the bomb is at A or B can mean being able to defuse or not, the sound dynamics blow.
January 28, 2007 at 1:21 am #15567Falcon
Participanteh, for nuke, get a nutcase like me on CT and you’re good. I like going rambo style at a certain spot, after waiting on the bomb to start being placed. it’s all too easy. nades are even more fun, and if you can catch someone walking by to place the bomb, opportunities abound for the most satisfying type of knife kill – right as they’re placing the bomb. but you gotta be crazy. and the nutter can hold one bomb site while the rest of the crowd secures the other

Participantnuke and inferno ftw

dust/dust/italy/office are played to much..

Participantwell i guess i’ll say something here since i mainly play source now. Its funny how when our source server was gone no one wanted to give ideas or thoughts about it and myself and another posted so much to have the source server back and we Finley got it back online now i see that people want different maps on it now . hmmm well what i want to know is where all these people have been that are complaining when I’m in the server most that play there know I’m a admin yet never ask for a map to be changed as i see other admins seem to be having a lot of people asking or say it is said they are . Its funny you can always tell when new admins are added because they always want to change stuff on servers to make it what they like here’s a hint for you you can never make everyone happy all the time yes you will have some people that will come to the server and have something to say about a map that they don’t like but the way i look at it if a map was voted on by the people that are playing then those same people should not be complaining about it because they are the ones that got the map put on it to begin with in short it isn’t broke so why are you trying to fix it ………
January 29, 2007 at 9:32 pm #15621Kuros
ParticipantIt all comes down to what me and gxti experiment and find works for the server. As of right now, map voting isn’t coming back and when I’ve been on, the maps haven’t been a problem, therefore there are no plans to change anything at all.
January 29, 2007 at 9:35 pm #15622Fascist Flakes (Jagr)
ParticipantIf it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. Doesn’t mean that suggestions are closed.
I recently started playing CS again and I became an admin, does that mean I’m trying to change things? No. I’m just trying to get answers to questions asked in game so that I can be informative to those with questions. I know and fully realize that not everyone is going to be happy with one choice or another. While one person may want a map change the other people may not. It is simply best to keep the rotation of maps going along and if people start leaving left and right due to a map, then it is a possibility to change the map (ask via vote first) to something so that the server becomes more populated.

ParticipantAs the random person who walked in off the street from very far away I shall offer my most delectable opinion. Map voting at the end of each map is horrible as the server ends up trapped on dust and aztec and office and assault. However adding the rock the vote ability would be dilightful as sometimes everyone is tired of the map and we want to change it but we have no way to go about doing it. The idea here is that the map rotation would stand as long as everyone could stand the map but if we hit dust(either one) for the bazzilionth time it might be nice to have the option to get it changed. By only having RTV and not a vote at the end of each map you can ensure that a certain level of motivation has to be present in order to initaite a map change. That would seem to me to be the best way to give you an efficient way to change the map should it prove needful as well as preventing constant voting for maps which would be quite annoying. It might also help if some other maps were introduced to the rotation such as port, nuke, tides, and multiple others.

Participantport? tides? dude, sounds like fun! and I actually like the idea… however we need some way to, erm, spay or neuter the system. so that they don’t use rockthevote to throw it back to the same map anyway. or at least if that’s how rockthevote works… and on his behalf, for all 0.000001 cents its worth, I’ve been in the server and seen Killty-Chan many many times…
January 30, 2007 at 12:05 am #15634cerevox
ParticipantIf you haven’t seen me you can just type “top10” and find me. The awnser to that is simple, create a stabilize the vote command. That way if there are some tards acting up and sending us constantly back dust 2 or something you can just start cancelling votes. You could also not advertise the RTV command. Most people don’t bother trying RTV or mapvote commands unless they want off of the current map really bad.

ParticipantNuke is in the rotation. Port and tides aren’t because I don’t really like them, although I could go with tides.

ParticipantI don’t mind port and I can’t really remember what tides is like…

ParticipantI absolutely love port.
I absolutely hate assault.

January 30, 2007 at 2:51 am #15649Bitey
Participantagreed assault sucks when the server is full, its an easy way for it to empty out pretty quickly. 5v5 on it isn’t so bad though. That is actually pretty fun.
February 2, 2007 at 7:36 am #15849Brian
ParticipantI really like militia, inferno, and piranesi, good strategic maps. Prodigy can be fun unless CTs wise up and hard rush the choke points. Then it’s stalemate. Maybe add Tides to the line up? It’s a quick map, people are pretty unfamiliar with it. Havana always seems to clear people out of the server because it is random and the CTs can easily slip in and out in a flash with the hosties because of this. Port is an apocalyptic awp fest, and that can aggravate people a lot. Assault is basically torture. I only know of custom maps by way of gungame, they aren’t to strategic. There was this one old western town map called metal something, it is always badass to play, Great Gunfight vibe, if i can find it, maybe we can put it up.
February 2, 2007 at 11:13 am #15855Kuros
ParticipantI like assault, but about half way through, the stat *edited* cts will no longer try to get in the building for the hosties. It’s such an easy map too, if you rush in guns blazing with all the cts.

Participantright-o. even today I rushed around and used some deceptive trickery to misconvey my location (shooting up one of those penetrable metal walls) then scramming to get to another entrance before they look there. even running that solo I woulda made it except for this one guy got smart and was camping the hostie return point once he realized I’d broke in and gotten the hosties and was 1 v 1.
