ParticipantSo… Manhunt 2 has gone from summer release, to being rated AO by the ESRB, to being re-rated MA a couple months later, to having this silly CA senator call the ESRB dumb because it isn’t ‘protecting our children effectively’.
If your interested, just something to read. Specifically Senator Crying and ESRB response are the meat of the story.
Original AO rating of Manhunt 2 (Don’t really care much about the game, just some history)

ESRB Response to Senator Leland Yee

Gotta love user comments: “Seriously, you buy your kid a game called “Manhunt” and THEN you complain !?!”
Senators Previous Gaming Woes
Here he does some early criticizing of the ESRB.

Senators Most Recent Over Ruled Legislation
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6176274.html
Here he wanted to make it illegal to sell a MA video game to anyone under 17.
“I am shocked that the Court struck down this common-sense law,” Yee said in a statement. “AB 1179 worked to empower parents by giving them the ultimate decision over whether or not their children should be playing in a world of violence and murder.”
Yeah a law that makes it illegal to sell MA games to minors is really ’empowering’ the parents. More like making them more lazy.
At any rate, hope u enjoyed the read. If not, oh well.

Participant“AB 1179 worked to empower parents by giving them the ultimate decision over whether or not their children should be playing in a world of violence and murder.”
If they are good enough parents then they should have already established their ultimate right over their children’s video gaming. Instead, the parents just buy their child a game without giving a *edited* about what it is, then see them run over some hooker in game, and go “WTF! How dare you sell this game to children!”
“There should be some system in place to warn us oh so concerned parents about the violent content! If there had been I wouldn’t have bought the game.”
Then it gets pointed out that it was rated Mature, they ignore that little juicy fact, and some lame *edited* politician jumps on the bandwagon, shows some Doom footage, and calls video games Satan’s next plot to control Earth.
Sigh. Rant over.

ParticipantLet’s look at the top 5 serial killers in the world by number of kills.
1. ~612 – Erzsébet Báthory, ÄŒachtice, Kingdom of Hungary (modern-day Slovakia), (1585 – 1610) [1] – total disputed
2. 300+ – Pedro López, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, (1978 – 1980) [2] – total unknown
3. 250 – Dr. Harold Shipman, Hyde, United Kingdom, (1975 -1998) [3]
4. 172 – Luis Garavito, Colombia, (1992-1998) [4]
5. 163+ – Dr John Bodkin Adams, Eastbourne, United Kingdom, (1946-1956). Acquitted controversially but an inquiry by pathologist Francis Camps concluded that he had killed at least 163 patients.[5]
None of these people were blamed to have killed people because of video games. Look them up on wikipedia for more info.
