just curious, sometimes at the end of rounds my ping will spike from like 30s-40s into the 200s or higher and then will go back down when the new round starts…
why is this happening? and what can i do to make it stop? its starting to get annoying because i get kicked sometimes for breaking the ping limit

I would do a defrag Enough. It sounds as if your computer is trying to process the data sent at the end of the round and is taking a bit longer than it normally would, thus causing your computer to spike up. Though why this would affect latency I don’t know, does it freeze up for a moment at the end of the round or is your ping just spiking up to ~200 at the end of every round? Could just be that it is processing a lot more data sent from the server and that you aren’t getting it fast enough and then spiking up when downloading the end of round data.
What are your rates? I’m going to assume 100/100 25000 or 75/75 20000 if you let the server dictate them for you. If they’re 100/100 25000 I suggest lowering them all the way to see if that solves the problem and then raising them ever so slightly every single round if it indeed fixed the problem.
it freezes sometimes at the beginning of the round, but thats been happening to a lot of people. its weird, it doesnt get laggy or anything… it just spikes to ~200 until the next round gets going… the sad thing is, that if i die early enough in the round, i get kicked haha.
do you think it could have to do with spectating? ill try to defrag, and see if that helps.

I have zero issues with lag at the end/beginning of rounds. I register a 15-25 ping for the most part and that holds pretty much stable the entire time I’m on.
i get a lot of lag at the end of rounds sometimes, but never enough to get me kicked, but i think that problem is server side

everytime i try to defrag my steam files it says i says that it’s unable to do so…

Just delete the css files from steamapps and reinstall them.
