ParticipantLent starts tomorrow, anybody giving up anything?
I’m thinking about giving up soda but TBH I don’t think I can make it. I am made of 90% carbonated corn syrup.

I know. A number of denominations observe it however the vast majority of those who go without rarely place any sort of true spiritual significance on their loss. They simply do without because that is what they are taught to do and rarely understand the deep meaning beneath the action.

ParticipantThe forty days represent the time that, according to the Bible, Jesus spent in the desert before the beginning of his public ministry, where he endured temptation by Satan. It is traditionally supposed to bring you closer to God and show him that you can go 40 days without something that you usually have.
