ParticipantFirst and foremost I want to apologize for the player hosted servers for L4D on the PC side. I redid all 5 the servers this morning and still had trouble making things work. There are several issues with the dedicated server that prevent mapchanging when using passwords and LAN settings. I will be contacting Valve about them next week.
The problem can’t be fixed by actions on our end.
November 1, 2009 at 12:12 am #96093BJWanlund
ParticipantWell, I hope that you and Valve can resolve that issue, Mitch, because I could hear a ton of moaning from the L4D players who were very unhappy with how the game played.
Other than that, this LAN was such a fun one, even with the problems that we ran into.

Can you clarify on the issue(s) that made them unhappy? I hadn’t heard of any complaints and none of the execs I was in contact with tonight did either.

Well, there were some issues where the game just froze all of a sudden. There was quite a bit of swearing going on too when the game locked up or froze.

I most certainly did, and I did finally pull together my exam schedule, and I might be able to make it to the LAN on December 12th.

ParticipantHey Adam, when the pics for this LAN are put up, why not put some of them on the front page and take down those old ones. And throw some PC and Console pics in there instead of just PC (oh and the group picture to).

ParticipantYou might want to add me to the attendance, Ephraim. I never got to sign the sheet with the boxes on it, since they started that after I showed up.
Also, all of us got robbed by that guy in BlazBlue.

How many people were having this issue and who were they?
Want to determine if it’s a network or server issue.

ParticipantIt was the entire group, I’m afraid.
Hope that helps you decipher the issue, Mitch.

Which guy in Blazblue? Since you thoroughly raped my *edited* as Nu (hint: BAN HER at the next tourney), I didn’t really get to see very many good BB players.

The entire group didn’t get dropped in L4D. A couple of people were dropped after the locally-run server froze. The server froze but when she tabbed back in, it worked once more. People were disconnected briefly at the start of CC act 2 and then it worked perfectly.

ParticipantHeh… I should have gotten a special prize for having more kills in L4D then the rest of my team combined… and more damage.
I agree, the idiot who won BlazBlue was a jerk. He was good, I’ll give him that, but when you complain constantly about WINNING… and about what console something is being played on when you are not apart of the club? Poor sportsmanship. I’m happy with my 3rd place Soul Calibur 4 standing… while playing Rock… (albeit on was against a new guy). I need to practice up with my Amy again so I can stomp Crash next Lan… who’s up for some practice?
As for the L4D problems, it was not a real problem, did not affect the overall of the game really. *edited* happens, we move on.

Right here Moose. I need to practice my Ivy and Taki, get’em back to thier old playstyles again.
And that was a nice match up, your Rock vs. Scares Algol. I honestly want to revive the Soul Calibur spirit here on campus. Who’s with me?
(Oh and Moose, as a side not I MIGHT be able to get Tekken tomorrow and I was wondering if I brought it into the commuters lounge Wednesday if you or anyone else might want to play it.)

So you claim the guy that won BlazBlue was a jerk, but then complain and assume you were the MVP of the L4D team so you could get more prizes? You weren’t the MVP, nor did you have the most kills or damage. Only poor sportsmanship I see here is doneso by yourself, class act sir, class act.

You were not at the meeting. Who was it that came up with the layout initially for prizes with our limited funds? ME. (in so much that I was the token “Jew” for crunching the payout amounts on the board while everyone argued over this and that) It was first set at $10 with the movies being an auction.
Second, FacistFlakes, please don’t be a sore loser because you lost. Learn what SARCASM is before you jump. Considering I, ManlyMoose, had top kills on the first map (218 with the second highest being 109), and tied for top on the second map. I would say that was MVP, not to mention top infected damage.
As for the douche who won BlazBlue, ask anyone who was actually apart of the tournament. All he did was *edited* about it being on the PS3… after winning. Last time I checked, that was being a poor sport.

ParticipantWhy’s everyone here so quick to start an argument? Even I could tell Moose was being sarcastic about the L4D thing.
And yes, the BlazBlue winner did nothing but *edited* all day about how the game wasn’t on the 360 and how he was *edited*ing up all his combos because he wasn’t used to the controller, despite him killing people with 2-3 combos usually. He even *edited*ed about his combos *edited*ing up after taking someone out with 1 combo! So, yeah, total douchebag.

ParticipantSo pretty much all you commuter lounge kids got treated to the same *edited* you put other people through, sweet. I think the guy that won BlazBlue and Brawl should be promoted to Console Pres.

Score means pretty much jack diddly in L4D unfortunately, and if you couldn’t tell, you were the one being saved 95% of the time. MVP != you, MVP == Your team for carrying you.

This is the last I will say on this topic, as this is merely ridiculous. I was team point. I cleared out, pulled special infected, and risked my own character to improve the performance of the team as a whole. I’ll admit, if I was not point, my scores would have been terrible as that is not my play style. Once again, please learn sarcasm or stop assuming. /DONE
Also, I would like to ask that my original post, and any or all posts thereafter involving this discussion be removed as this public display of all of us being asinine is unbecoming to public image.

No one cares that he won, hell Trevor was up 2-0 on him in Brawl and forfeit because he wanted to go with us to get pizza with us. What we care about is that he’s a grade-A douchebag. Granted that can be said about a whole lot of us, myself included, but this guy did it like it was his *edited* job. I think he rubbed a lot of people at the LAN the wrong way.
As for you wanting him to be your Console Pres., have fun at App.
