ParticipantWas interested in this club before I came to campus, I’m an avid TF2 player (COD4 somewhat less frequently) and regularly admin the BRB, Uninstalling servers, if anybody’s been there, as well as operate their scrim team.
I don’t really know where you guys meet, or how to get involved, but if I could get some info on that I’d love to come and check you guys out. Thanks a million. (Peaches)

Hey peaches.
Come check out the LAN this Saturday at the UC. We will be having both TF2 and COD4 tournaments (as well as CS:S and UT2k4) and it should be a good time. You can register over here

Participantwelcome peaches,
yeah you should deffently come to the LAN, alsways alot of fun. theirs alsways a huge turnout.
also just stay tuned to the forums and meetings and such are posted.
but the best way is what you did, make an account and start becoming active. we dont have a “membership’ fee for joining the club. (however it is $5 for the lan, but thats to cover food cost and such)
how did you first hear of the club? any chance the club was one of the reason you came to western?
also if you use your student ID 92# you can sign up to be “officially” part of the club via “SGA” at http://www.wcugaming.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9575

Participantgah, wish i could go to the friggen lan!

ParticipantProbably not the reason I came, I was reasonably certain it wasn’t all that uncommon in the UNC system. There were other reasons, entirely.
That said, I’m very interested, but I’m kind of dismayed by the server populations. Not that that’s a deterrent or anything… could probably use some extensive seeding (in the server I operated, I’d often install a SourceTV [it shows up as a player] and then just go in there and idle, so it looked like there was at least a friendly duel).
It’s also immensely helpful to have a huge friendlist and cojones enough to invite.

ParticipantWe have a TF2 Council Leader as well as a Call of Duty 4 one, I know that Rydell is taking steps to populate the TF2 server and after the LAN, Nickname will be doing the same for CoD4, so just be patient and help out how you can and I am sure TF2 will become just as popular as our CSS server is. Talk to these two guys about your ideas if you have any more about increasing server population. Thanks a lot for stopping by and I hope you enjoy your time with WCU Gaming.

ParticipantAs mentioned before, I am the TF2 council leader, and it is nice to see more people interested in TF2 at this school (too many ppl play CSS sheesh…) I am taking steps to populate the server and I will work harder after the LAN because all my focus right now is getting ready. We are recruiting admins at the moment and we would be glad to have you. Welcome aboard.

I still added you as a friend on steam.

ParticipantYeah, I kind of figured it wouldn’t, but it never hurts to have buddies in the polluted sea of the Interwebs, either.
And it’s a two-way street, as well.
September 25, 2008 at 11:46 pm #57830Rydell382
Participanttouche, but still, this server hardly ever get populated, leaving me with a very big job ahead of me after the LAN, by the way, do you plan on attending?
September 26, 2008 at 12:53 pm #57869peaches
ParticipantI’m already registered for the TF2 portion of the LAN. Wish I could come to the COD4, but my family’s coming from way down southeast.
Are we assigned a team for this? If so, are we allowed to know ahead of time who we’ll be matched with, and what maps we’ll play on?
September 26, 2008 at 5:22 pm #57898Rydell382
ParticipantThe official map choices and rules can be found here (scroll down a bit) , although we will have free play the entire time.
September 26, 2008 at 5:28 pm #57899Bitey
ParticipantWe will have as much free play as the Tron can handle
September 26, 2008 at 5:35 pm #57903Rydell382
