Participantbecause you don’t play TF2 on an empty stomach, cut COD4 before dinner, CSS and TF2 afterwards.

Participantreally need to split the top 2 pc game up. however which way that be

ParticipantMaybe next time have it like this:
2pm: CSS (needs least amount of installing and won’t be late, will also pull gamers in early)
4pm: other game
6:30: dinner
730: CoD4
9: TF2 (gives 3.5 hours)
The time before CSS can be used to load the 4th game and the extra time before dinner can be used to load CoD4. We need all the time we can get for the CoD4 install.

ParticipantYou don’t need anywhere near 3.5 hours to run tf2 x_X.
I did the math in one of the TF2 threads… Even accounting for a bunch of tie breakers, wasted time setting up teams, someone disconnected, delayed matches.. etc… It should not take that long lol. Not that I would mind playing tf2 for 3.5 hours
. It’s just a bit excessive when based around warm-up map, 1st round, final round.Snippet from TF2 forums:
“Team Generation (5 or 10 mins), Team Collaboration (5 mins), Warmup map (15 or 30 mins), first round (15 or 30mins), final round (30 mins). 15 Minutes allowed for stalemate situations.
Total: 2 hours.”

Participantif any pc tourry is going to run long it would be tf2, thats why i like kips line up. starting at 9pm prob run ~2hrs or more that gives plenty of time to pack up everything and do prizes. prob wont take 3.5hr’s but if it does it would not be a problem. last time we were cutting short on a few of the tourrys, i dont think we will run into cutting tourneys short this next time if that schedule is followed (or something similar, pending which games get voted in at the meeting)
someone print that think out and bring it to the meeting

ParticipantWe at Student Computing have been throwing around an idea to have a help table set up. We have some freebies to give out too. Mike Russell came up with the idea. If you guys have a spare table and a corner to give us, we’d be happy to come and help out.

ParticipantWe had a couple extra tables last time, an extra booth shouldn’t be a problem.

ParticipantIm gonna talk to Brenton about it today but I think we have time for at least one more console game for the Wii or PS3 (the stuff I run) because we had two projectors and about 2 or 3 tvs open for free play for about 3 hours and that was after the extra Team Smash tournament I threw together (well all of the credit for this can’t go to me, EYCE helped me out all through out the day).

ParticipantGuitar Hero 3 & Counter Strike Source are happening at the same time?!

ParticipantIt’s the way things go. We can schedule the games to make everybody happy. Pick and choose I guess. Besides, you can always rock out on the GH any other time during the LAN, because I’m pretty sure we’ll have one TV dedicated to that for most of the day.

ParticipantMake CSS a team based game. Get rules from http://www.caleague.com/?page=rules . Also, don’t schedule the same time as Applan’s cause then you won’t get the cool kids.

ParticipantSuggestion: Market the costume contest. I believe that will bring in a ton of people. So far, the only people I know of who are aware of the contest heard of it by word of mouth. We should at least have a sign.

ParticipantIf I am not mistaken the costume thing is for this LAN, since the December LAN will be held by Dell and will put us up against App State.
November 1, 2008 at 12:23 pm #61668MasterP
ParticipantAssuming they come. It’s about $20-30 in gas both ways plus lodging and food. Our last big showing at AppLAN wasn’t worth the cost, even for those who won TF2.

ParticipantYes Costume Contest is THIS LAN on Nov. 8th.
