Personally, I think we already have a lot of admins, but I figured I’d post this anyway. We get a lot of admin apps from people and they get turned down because they don’t fulfill a requirement, so they’re obviously overlooking the How-To section. Maybe we could move the thread for becoming an admin to the Admin Application section, or have another copy of it there, and make it a sticky post so it stays at the top.

Edit: I noticed they’re PINNED posts on this forum, not sticky.

Better Idea: have the requirements for becoming an admin at the top of the admin application, with a check box that they have to click saying something like “I have read and understand the requirements listed and I meet those requirements”

True, this way it’ll definitely be somewhere where they will see it. :P

You know, I forgot that we have an actual application (or whatever), which is why my original post mentions having a sticky in the admin app section (not in the actual application itself). Most of the other servers I had admin in basically had a sticky post in the admin app section and you just copied and pasted the form, filled it in, and submitted it as a new thread.

or is it possible that if you have to type in your number of posts, or have it check ur post # and just automatically deny any that do not meet the requirement?

also… what happened to idle-ing IRC…. with all the admins we have we should have like 200 ppl in the channel at once o.O

Agreed. Can easily make it check the post count on their userid, and they should be idling IRC. :)

Originally there was going to be a page before the actual application that had all the requirements and an “agree” and “cancel” button choice. Gxti and Adambomb shot down my idea.

I can’t always be idling in IRC, but I do frequent the forums.

Hey… were the requirements edited recently? Cuz I recall seeing it say you have either be active on the forums or idle on IRC. Also, the thing about the 50 meaningful posts is gone. Maybe I’m looking at something else (it’s in the How-To section on becoming a server admin, though, hm).

I would idle if I could, though. I need my own computer. >_<

I’m at herbal’s anymore. I’m back home. Also, I’m pretty sure it said you could do one or the other (at least, back when I applied). I wouldn’t have applied for admin if it had to be both because I can’t always idle in the channel.

You can do one or the other, but doing both makes it much easier to balance out, you can’t just post like once or twice a week, I check the forums daily, I may not always post something but I at least keep myself updated on what is going on with the club, as for admins I would like you to keep yourself updated with the servers you admin on and the Server Admin Discussion section at the least. Everything else you can check at your own leisure, again you don’t have to respond to everything but at least checking them and responding to a few things shows us that you are doing what we ask you to do. Just like last time we are trying to keep track of active and inactive people, people who don’t post often or post like every 30 days will be removed from admin, and people who don’t idle IRC or post at all will also have their admin removed.

That’s what I thought. :P I go on IRC occasionally, but I’m usually using someone else’s laptops (my mom’s or dad’s), so I can’t always. I check the forums almost every day, though.

Why are the requirements for admin in the General Discussion? Can the thread about admin in the How-To section be edited to include this?

    http://www.wcugaming.org/forums/index.php?…eaningful+posts

Also, I think we should employ this:

Or go with my original suggestion to put the requirements as a pinned post under Admin Apps because it is STILL getting overlooked.

Either way, though, the part where it mentions how many hours of play time and 50 posts should be included. For some reason, it’s in General Discussion.
