ParticipantI have time, and I would like to build the stats system that will portal across all our HL1 and HL2 games (1.6, CSS, CSS:GG, L4D, TF2). What do you all think about HLstatsX Community Edition?
Heres some examples of other Community’s using this portal setup example 1 example 2, example 3 example 4 example 5 and the page im pulling the better examples from,, lol.
Was thinking this new portal page would be a tab on the main home/news page, instead of all the links across the top. This is not anything that’s gonna happen anytime soon, as it will be a lot of work, but figured it would be nice and wanted you all the players input on this new stats option.
click around, watcha think?

ParticipantI do like the look of it. If you want to code it, i dont see why we couldnt use it.

ParticipantI’m not sure how well having all of the servers in competition like that will work out but I’m definately game for testing it. Once we get the current issues fixed we’ll have plenty of time to test things and the next reset isn’t for a few months anyway.

Participantyeah unfortunately the first example had the idle setup with hl1 and hl2 games tracking all players in every server, thou it seems to just went offline. What do you mean by servers competition MP? And yeah I know bad timing with all the stuff that just broke, that’s why I am just seeking ideas, input, questions, and concerns.
as far as coding it wont be so much coding, more of code manipulating/tweaking/testing/tweaking and repeat.

ParticipantIt looks like all those servers are feeding to the same stats database and the stats are across all the servers. Now that’s probably not too big a deal but we’ll have to make sure the point system is fair and balanced and ensure that someone who only plays gungame can’t rack up more points than someone who plays only CS or CSS.
Yeah a system like that would require very little coding. A definate plus in my book.

ParticipantI like the unified system

ahh gotcha, good concern indeed.
Not quite sure how everything’s linked, but browsing a little I noticed that it does feed the data to the same data base “per game” so like CS:S and CS:S GG would be (or could be) linked. Thou i think the default is every “server” has its own unique stats page. Dont know if its possible to have 1 person that plays tf2, l4d and css to be linked all together as one. I’m still learning myself, but excellent point and good eye for thinking ahead

ParticipantWell it can seperate the users from the individual game stats if it wanted and if that’s an option with this system I can’t imagine us not moving to it. It’d be lightyears easier to work with.

Participantlooks good man, a few of those are what we have now, just with the addition of being able to see all servers. I like it.

Participantthis will be great once we have multiple l4d servers, we can get a unified stats between them which is what I wanted.
