ParticipantHi guys,
So I have more time to play now, so I tried playing source. But when I play, it’ll run smoothly for a short interval
say 10 seconds, then the screen would lock up for 3-4 seconds, then continue off. It’s like if i was massively lagging
during it.
I was wondering if it’s my game or my computer or any other weird things that happened, because it normally doesn’t do
that. For the people who wanted statistics, my fps is normal its like 100 average. The ins and outs are jumping up and down, from 60, to god knows how high it can go 200? Usually there’s no choke or what not. BUT during the lag spike, the choke would
jump up to like 40 then go down to 0 perfectly fine.
Much help appreciated!

Does it do it with other heavy games?Nope, it runs perfectly fine for games like Wc3, um… even the gun game server I was playing the other night, the WCU one wasn’t this bad. Maybe I hit the wrong button or something.

ParticipantAfter rebooting, if you still have trouble with ONLY 1 game, try resetting the video settings for that game or updating your video drivers.

The drivers I have are already updated. But… I tried resetting the video settings back to how they were (with the exception if the antiscopic whatever down to 2x, from the 4x default), and it still continues to freeze randomly in intervals while I am playing.
Do you think I should just reinstall steam and everything and hope it fixes itself? Or any other simpler tricks you guys might know?

Participantmy first question is, does this only happen in online mode? if you create a server, does it still do that? if it only happens in online mode, do u have vista? when i first got vista, i loaded up cs:s, tried to play, but it would lag every 20 secs or so. truns out, every 20 secs or so, vista checks for a better internet connection or something. had to find a third party tool online to fix it.
