ParticipantHow many comps does the gaming club have and how did you get so many? The gaming club at my school has like 8-10 comps and are stuck in a small *edited* room.

Adam FaulknerParticipantnone. we the students own them.

Participantway back when the club first started we used to use comp labs and actually provided the comps and the games. we would usually use a computer lab with about 30 computers. They were computer labs that the school already had, the gaming club had no influence of how many computer labs or computers.
Now however, it is byoc, bring your own computer, which is much much better.

Participantso you just bring your desktops to a room and lock it up at night ? Our student center closes at midnight on weekdays and 1am on weekends so there would be no way to late night game. Is yours 24hrs?

Adam FaulknerParticipantNo, just an all day event. We just close the curtains

Participant…wait… is this just for lans?
Do you have an actual club or is it just 1 meeting a month and a lan or 2 a semester?
February 17, 2009 at 2:02 pm #71261MasterP
ParticipantWe are a gaming club, not a LAN center.

ParticipantHow does that work though? Do you have an office?
I am not trying to start *edited* I am just asking general questions cause *edited* at my school is so different I guess.

ParticipantIf we wanted an office we could have one, we just don’t see the need for it at this time. We usually hold 2 lans a semester and we have several meetings and other activities such as cookouts, mini gatherings, community service, etc… We are a club registered with the university.

Adam FaulknerParticipantI would say we are more of an organization these days than a school club.
We do not limit all our activities to students, but our goal is to get them to become students.
how did you expect us to operate? Our offices are where our computers are.

ParticipantThats what I was asking basically… Here there is an office with 8-10 comps as i said before and they hold meetings in there… I didn’t know when I looked at you picture if those were other people’s comps or SAF bought. That’s why I asked.

ParticipantGranted.. I think it would be heavenly if the club owned some TVs. Just lock ’em up somewhere until LAN days.

ParticipantDo you guys get a budget to deal with or is it just self-funded and sponsor funded?
February 20, 2009 at 3:27 pm #71601AMerrill
