ParticipantAnyone played this? I’ve heard there is a lot of customization available, and while some aspects were not so good (i’ve heard the graphics were a little shady) but if anyones got a good review or opinion that’d be swell.

Participantits a great game. Free online play. FPS oppurtunities. 3 different classes with 2 subclasses in each. It is a mmorpg. A great one at that. Easy controls and great gameplay. I hate to say it but its like if you took Diablo and WoW and put them together with a futuristic setting….

ParticipantI thought Hellgate London was $10/month?

Participantu can pay the fee if u want updates such as new drops and stuff and new monsters with the monsters spawning differently each time to enter an area its ridiculous. it amazing to see what kinds of stuff you can do. But no you dont have to pay a monthly fee just to play online with other ppl. The chat system tho is very hard to use.

ParticipantOnce you learn the chat system it’s really not that bad. It just takes some getting used to.

ParticipantIt got some REALLY terrible reviews in Games for Windows (a periodical I get).

ParticipantI made a fairly persuasive arguement about why public ratings don’t really reflect game contect in a MW forum a couple months back. I’ll link it up if I can find it.
Pretty much the way games are being rated now is a sham compared to how they used to be. Point in case is Bioshock. Sure it’s a great game but what did it bring to the FPS realm? Nothing and it yet it received more perfect ratings than I care to count. It’s only great feature was the graphics, which are meaningless when it comes to replayability which oddly enough was almost completely ignored in most reviews of it.
The problem with reviews (that I’ve noticed) is that they seem to spend less than an hour playing a game or using a piece of software and then write a long, drawn out explaination of whether or not they were happy with their first glance. Even CNET is guilty of this, their review of Microsoft Onecare used screenshots taken during the first release of the beta test and many of their complaints were on bugs that were fixed midway through the beta. This review is still up and oddly enough just to the right of it is an Apple ad. Imagine that.
Does this mean you should completely ignore the ratings? I do, but most don’t.

ParticipantHellgate is a great game to be honest. I’ve already put a good 80 hours into the game and got it a week ago. The only bad thing I don’t like about it is the fact that it still has a few bugs it needs to work out and it has a memory leak so if you don’t want your computer to crash you should probably close out of the game and re-open it ever two hours or so. Other than that this game is really fun if you like any of the Diablos you’ll like this. It is very addictive.
