yeah i’m dumb.. lemm’s account got hijacked last night…
i received a message from adambomb via steam friends told me to download this file and was dumb enough to do it… so his account is prolly hijacked too…
anyways… they stole over 200 dollars worth of games from me.. hl2/css/back catalog entire orange box… and well to say the least i’m angry .. mostly at myself for not thinking.. (i even scanned the *edited*ing file before i opened it so don’t think that’ll save you)
anyways.. if any of you on my friends list (wcu makes up most of my friends list) get a message from me sending you a link.. don’t go there

I did some searching and this guys been hijacking for a while… found some threads on FPSBanana about it…
I sent in a claim to STEAM telling them my account has been hijacked and gave them all the necessary info. Hopefully I’ll get it back.. but who knows. I do have another account which I might be playing on in next couple of days.

As unfortunate as it is, I do want to point out that I purposefully had this file sent to me so I could decompile it, and my antivirus picked it up immediately as a trojan.
I highly suggest that *everyone* update their antivirus software immediately.

As a security measure you might want to remove his admin access to the servers until he gets the account back.
If the guy does this as a hobby most likely he will sell the account to the highest bidder, but yeah if it has not already been done please remove admin access from him for now.

everyone seems to be getting their accounts back. I think by him getting my account he got atleast 10 others. GG ADAM! i beat myself up about it.
Anyway I have decompiled his program, put his program on a virtual pc and trapped his IP, the kid lives in Illinois is all I am going to say. I sent everything to steam and NCSBI. I hope they get this *edited*. IF they fail to do anything I may just get comcast, his ISP to give me info. I dont plan on letting this slide and I will not let him get buy with it.
However on the other hand. If you guys do get this virus, i want to tell you its not just a virus that will steal your steam account and go away. It is a very smart remote desktop and Drive sharing program. This guy was actually on my screen moving my mouse and decided to come in and talk to me in vent after copying my vent info with copy and paste right off my screen. The Virus also starts up with your comp. Just unplug your internet, install AVG do the scan, plug your internet back in, update until all updates are done, unplug your internet do another scan and then restart and your good.
I am very sorry for everyone that I caused trouble with by letting this happen to my account. everyone should get their account back if you post it to steam. And i will get this kid, even if i have to drive 12 hours to his house to kick his *edited*.

You should call local law enforcement in his area as well.

You can also try the FBI as various interstate internet crimes are now under their perview, not sure if they’ll take on something like this but if they do it’s a guaranteed buttrape. His ISP should also be obligated to deactivate his account if you give them enough evidence and how much money is involved with stolen accounts.

Adam – how does all of that decompiling and stuff work? I’m interested, so explain it to me or show me where I can find out more about it. Now.
Seriously though, that’s sweet how you can take apart his program and figure out how it works, and then find out where he sleeps. If you’re not going to show up at his house, please make an untraceable virus and send it back to him. Or just send it out under a proxy?

As for going to see him. I turned stuff over to SBI .. had to fill out a form basicly filing a complaint. Other than that I want to wait to see what steam is going to do. I gave them enough info to hand the person if they wanted to. The sad thing is its not a developer. Its a kid. the virus even had trialware in it. So sad.
