ParticipantI’ve recently downloaded Steam and Team Fortress 2. It’s a lot of fun and I’d like to play on the wcu servers. However, I’m having a few tech problems. If any of you have suggestions, that would be great.
1. The game itself plays just fine on my computer, but when a match is over, it takes way too long to load the next map. Like, five minutes. Also, if I hit the Start button, the game sometimes stops responding.
2. I haven’t been able to get the sprays to work. Whenever I try to upload an image, it tells me either the file is corrupt or the size is wrong.

Taking a while typically means your computer needs an upgrade. Despite the graphics, TF2 is a very detailed game and requires quite a bit more power than CSS. Try turning your settings down and see if it gets better. If not you may have gotten some corrupt game files.
Idk what the requirements are for sprays, I gave up on them a while back.

ParticipantYeah my laptop takes FOREVER to join TF2 games, even though its pretty beefy. For whatever reason, TF2 just takes a long time to load servers.

ParticipantIt takes my computer less time to load CoD4 maps than TF2 maps. Odd but w/e.

ParticipantI use a Linksis wireless connection. It kind of sucks and goes out a lot. I wish I could give you more specifics, but I’m less than tech-savy. That’s why I’m going to start taking programming classes in the fall. I want to understand out what the hell my friends are talking about.

ParticipantI’m with Liam; I load the next map very fast.
Loading the next map is very hard drive intensive, hence why laptops suffer.
The easy solution is to buy a faster hard drive and more RAM. Since you mention the game crashing when you press the start button, I’d guess you have enough RAM for TF2 and nothing else. If you post some more detailed specs, we could advise as to an upgrade or tweaks.
Sprays are the most unpredictable thing. .jpgs work in theory, however .bmp seems to be work much better. To convert to .bmp open your intended image in MS Paint and hit File->save as then choose bmp from the filetype. A quick google search has turned up this tutorial on FPSbanana, TF2 Spray Tutorial. I haven’t done that in a while but I recall it works with a minimum of screwing around.
I hope that helps.
