ParticipantSame as MaserP, I would like to hear what you think about how I handled my term, things that I did that you either did or did not like.
I am doing this mainly for future Presidents to learn from mistakes that I made.
So please give me any and all feedback, again bash me not posters in the threads, so that I and others can learn.
I appreciate all comments and I appreciate most of all honesty.

Participanti think the main thing is the lack of meetings is the bigest thing in 2007 there were what 10 meetings and 2008 what 4 ?

ParticipantI have to agree with Ex there; we should have 1-2 meetings before each lan and a meeting after each lan as a “what was good, what was bad” thing.

ParticipantAgreed, my advice for the new president is be aware of timings and scheduling and get started on that stuff WAY EARLY. So take what ever you think early is and go like a month earlier because you will inevitably run into problems and have to reschedule.
Also we could always go to one meeting per month, or even per week, but to do that I think again that we need to consider what kind of benefits people get for showing up to meetings and becoming a member. Like other organizations we could also include an induction ceremony into the club, something for people to shoot for, I dunno just throwing some of my ideas out on paper.

ParticipantI think you did a good job but I would add marketing/advertising to the “needs improvement” column. The president should take a more active role in making sure people are being brought into the fold and the club is expanding its base. I understand you had a lot to do but would it have been possible to better delegate power specifically to efficacious individuals for marketing?

ParticipantThe marketing person was a voted position and by the time they finally got a hold of the guy, and found out that he had done absolutely nothing they barely had any time let alone resources to market adequately. thankfully this time we have someone who is already on the ball and many people eager to put up the ads.

ParticipantHopefully with the way things are organized now people will be more enthusiastic about helping. I involved the club with ValleyBallyWhoo, and the student run event that was like ValleyBallyWhoo, only a few people showed up. I also got us a table for one week before every LAN from 12-5 PM, a few people showed up. I don’t what more I need to do as President to get the word out about the club, I think doing flyers just to make people aware of the club is a great idea and should be pursued. However again this will require enthusiasm on the parts of the people involved with the club, only thing I could do was open doors, the club as a whole must walk through them. I delegated and split up as much as I could but when it came down to it only a few people were dedicated enough to actually do something.
