Day of Defeat Server?

I’m just woundering if there was anyway that we could start up a Day of Defeat source server here at school? I really have stopped playing the game cuz i can never find a good server to play on with a low ping.

Next meeting, I’ll try to remember to bring it up. Either replace Quake III, which despite being badass, oldschool, etc is always empty, or make a new slot.

The only reason I pushed for quake3 was to make brackets. I was told that it had to have a council leader to have brackets. Since gxti and myself have taken it upon ourselves to do all the brackets for non council leader games, we don’t need it anymore as a server.

We should try to distance ourselves from older versions of games when new ones are popular as well. This is especially true for games based on the goldsource (HL1) engine – it’s buggy as hell.

There is more people that plays DoD then DoD:S there i about 5000 DoD:S players and 15-20 000 that plays DoD just if you wanted to know

This is true, but the most popular game in the FPS world is still cs 1.6. Remember that it is the game the started this club.

And it will be like that and many other games for years to come.

 

Older games have better gameplay. Distancing ourselves from the old games is not a good idea, if they have more of a chance surviving.

 

Remember that BF2 and BF2142 were hosted on our servers. Q4 when it came out. CSS when it came out. And all ended in an epic FAIL. I dont thing we belong on the front line. I think we do just fine in the middle.

 

The only one that did succeed was COD2 and that was because of Raven DOWNGRADING it to a older version.

I’m getting far more pressure for a DoD:S server than DoD here at WCU. We definitely can’t have both. Also, I don’t like HL1 games due to technical issues (think all the *edited* that happens in 1.6 server that I can’t do anything about).

yeah, 1.6 and the great walling that takes place i love it to, dod:s doesn’t make that crap and it make the game play so much better. And a server would be so fun.
