ParticipantI’m kinda new, I admit, but I’m friends with a few people from here. lol
Anyway, I was playing for a few days on this server but now when I try to connect it says:
“Disconnected kicked by console: zBlock – mat_dxlevel value “70.00” below acceptable limit. To play on this server set the value to at least 80.”
I’m not quite sure what to do lol

ParticipantAnd it begins…
I’m pretty sure this is why the council leader wanted zBlock tested.

ParticipantSo is it my fault or the zBlock thing? lol

ParticipantDo you have some sort of skin or something that changes stuff in your cs:s??
August 31, 2008 at 3:32 pm #54866Liam
ParticipantLoad up counter-strike source, open the console and type mat_dxlevel 90.00
, then you should be able to join up without any issue. zblock checks these things because having them as low as that will allow some walls to become transparent.

okay I’ll try that first and test that.

ParticipantThe problems shouldn’t start. So don’t start *edited*ing. People usually have their settings down on certain things, whether they be intentionally or not… We shall not know, but this way.. You can control the rates they have or anything else, as Zblock has a standard for it.
If you don’t play CS:S regularly stop crying on our forums. And thanks for the execs who decided to install this. The server is running very well.

Never mind the overhead created when it has to check EVERY CLIENT EVERY TIME THEY LOG IN. I guess it’s not a big deal though, since CS:S is the only loaded server anyways.
August 31, 2008 at 8:06 pm #54889Bitey
ParticipantWonder why that is?
It has been up for almost two days now and there has been no complaints, lets give it a week like I said and then we can start *edited*ing about it if it starts becoming a problem, otherwise stfu and post in a thread of a game that you actually play in, unless of course you have something to add to the conversation that will help the discussion. Players who lower mat_dxlevel are not exactly legitimate players as has already been discussed.
As for skins we are working on a method to allow people to use approved skins.

ParticipantYour right, my bad 24 hours exactly.

Participantlooked it up and this changes the directx level you use ingame (i wondered but figured i’d google it). try installing a newer version of directx and then set ur dxlevel to whatever level you downloaded?
September 1, 2008 at 3:48 am #54953Bitey
ParticipantSetting the dxlevel lower causes walls in certain maps to become transparent, it also makes it so flashbangs don’t work on you.

Umm. mat_dxlevel is the directx level, and last time I checked, they didn’t make a DirectX version 9.5.
Set it to mat_dxlevel 90, or 81

ParticipantIf people have an older card, say a geforce 4 mx 440, they can only use directx 7. Same if they have intel extreme graphics. Can this setting be ignored cause I don’t think its fair to punish those with older hardware…

ParticipantWe can cross that bridge when we get there.

ParticipantSince I saw him in the server, no. Most of the time its just bad settings.

Participant95 is a usable setting I remember fiddling with it a year or so ago, but again your dxlevel should work with and help your hardware, if it is causing more pain than help, then take it as low as you can without breaking the zBlock minimum. I know that 70 and lower makes it so flashbangs do not effect you, at least on the visual side, your ears still ring.

95 is the pseudo-dx10 that Steam uses.

ParticipantWish we could get same results on things when I tried it along with many others on the CAL website they came by the same results as me flashbang did not turn the screen white, I didn’t just pull it out of my *edited*….

ParticipantAll those are relatively new video cards aren’t they? I dunno maybe older video cards and slight changes to the config file will cause the flashbangs not to work, I dunno what to tell you man.

See if it still does that, it seems stupid for Steam to give those running DX7 an advantage. I bet they fixed it.
Also, I hate to keep bashing on CAL, but they aren’t exactly the most accurate source of information. If you go back a few years you’ll find some good lols on their forums.

ParticipantOh believe me I know, but why would zBlock leave that little feature in? There must be a reason for it?
