cops pull that double whammy *edited* all the time. My brother can attest to that. He was at home, minding his own business, just finished smoking a jay. Cop knocks on the door, explains that he’s there for a noise violation, gives my brother a ticket, and right before my brother shuts the door the cop stops him and asks, “How much marijuana do you have in your apartment?”. My brother looked at him like he was crazy, i mean he just finished his last joint. The cop without warning, enters my brothers apartment and calls in back up. They took my brother to jail for a roach. Now, you could say the cop smelled the smoke and therefore had enough of a cause to enter the apartment; or you could say the cop was a *edited* and had no right to take him to jail. how this relates to the topic i’ve now lost, but it seemed cool at the time. lol
So your argument is that the cop can’t arrest him because he smells the smoke and by your own admission he just finished smoking the last of an illegal narcotic?
That’s why I love you pro-marijuana guys. The whole “yeah it’s illegal but it shouldn’t be and isn’t fair so I’ll do it anyway and QQ when I get in trouble” thing makes me lol every time. The only reason I want it to stay banned is so you guys can keep making my day.

lol
well he has a badass lawyer that is going to get him off.
1.) Cop had no right to enter without my brothers permission. Which he never showed a warrant or asked phil to step inside. Now, he may have smelled smoke but:
2.) The initial charge was bogus, he wasn’t playing any music, and:
3.) The cop can’t identify who called in the noise violation. If that charge is dropped, which according to my bother’s lawyer it will be, then anything and everything found and charged after that is void.
God i love america.

That’s all well and good but the article doesn’t mention that they found weapons on them. In fact it doesn’t mention anything about the scene of their arrest at all. It doesn’t even mention that they actually found IED parts in their possession.
It’s true that they didn’t have set IEDs with them, but it’s like saying, “Well they didn’t see him getting a ZJ from a hooker, despite being caught trying to negotiate a price for one”. Again, they monitored their emails and caught them trying to obtain it. They’ve been on the watch list for a while (2008?) before this happened. Also, I think something about the video on their website is being used as evidence. They are shown using various weapons and tactics. Maybe they found something else there, but it’s definite proof that they have been using weapons, and, during the time in which they were training in that video, it can be labeled as time they were conspiring, leading to the “possessing a firearm during a crime of violence” issue.

ParticipantBecause you held a gun at some random point in the past does not mean you’re going to use that gun in a future crime. I hope they have more than that because that argument won’t last 10 seconds in court.

Only in America does a cop have to ask you permission before busting you for doing something illegal.

ParticipantI love the Blacksburg cops. I get rides home from DT from them all the time.
March 30, 2010 at 7:49 pm #99516Duendes
ParticipantTrue. Which means they need to go and properly date that video (that’s when the intelligence guys come in things start to get more technical). Chances are, they went to a judge shortly after the groups’ publicity snafu in 2008 and obtained the warrants to completely monitor the members. If they found something that supports what they were set to find during the time of monitoring, they can definitely use it. So if that vid was taken before the warrant, shucks. If after, woohoo.

Arena said he didn’t believe Hutaree is a very big organization. He said different people have trained and met with the group, and some have come and gone. “We don’t have evidence they also crossed the line,” Arena said.In other words, cells came and went. *sigh* I think some of you guys are right about the media trying to hide the fact that they’re terrorists. Either that or they need to really take a terrorism class.

ParticipantI wasn’t trying to say that they’re trying to hide the fact that they’re terrorists or anything; they’re reporting what they do or what they planned to do. I was just saying that they’re not giving them the label “terrorist.”
April 1, 2010 at 12:59 pm #99576Duendes
ParticipantActually, I really don’t remember hearing the word “Terrorist” once when Timothy McVeigh bombed Ohio City, despite him being lone wolf grade. Maybe they just avoid the word if it’s domestic.

That’s because if they called them terrorists and people saw they were attacking US soil (or planning to) they would demand the government take a more war-like stance. The last thing Obama wants right now is for the general populace to have yet another inaction to be *edited*ed over.

How’d you get that from my statement? I just think it’s funny that everyone who gets caught smoking it gets *edited*ed they got caught and later freely admits it to friends/family who then blame the cops for enforcing the law. It’s against the law, that means don’t do it, not even a little bit when no one’s watching.
Btw, they did a check on these “terrorists” and found their leader was a registered democrat. They then buried that fact and didn’t do checks on any of the others. They got the first permits to start watching these guys while Bush was in office. Adds a whole new perspective on this IMO.

There’s no such thing. When push comes to shove, a democrat is a democrat.
April 8, 2010 at 10:30 am #99810Duendes
ParticipantWhat about the *edited* republicans… yeah, there is such a thing
And sadly, some people don’t really care about what party they register for.
April 8, 2010 at 11:49 am #99812newrayz
Participant*edited* republicans lol
i’m not prejudice though…all republicans are equally hypocritical to me
April 8, 2010 at 10:25 pm #99824MasterP
ParticipantBeing a republican has nothing to do with being conservative.
I don’t consider myself to be a republican. Never have and likely never will. I’ll gladly vote for a democrat if they’re the more conservative candidate.

Yeah, but the downside is you have to live in Canada.
