So my coolermaster RC-690 case has an 80mm fan slot under the mobo where the cpu is, but the standard 25mm thick 80mm fans are just BARELY to big, is there such thing as like a 20mm or 15mm thick 80mm fan?

Be careful not to use any metal fans under there. Shorting the motherboard is bad.

ok time to chime in with a funy but slightly OT story.

Back when I was a n00b, I would say about 10-12 years ago, I had this old pentium 66 cpu/motherboard. I don’t remember exactly why I had the cpu out of the socket but for some reason when I went to put it back in, I apparently did not seat it properly (it was not facing the correct orientation) but I thought it was OK so I plugged it up and hit power and WHOA SPARKS FLYING HOLY $#!T! so I turned it off and took out the cpu and saw on the mobo and the CPU, 2 pins were fried completely black. Needless to say, it no longer worked. I was stuck going back to a 386 cpu/mobo for my efforts. GG.

Thats amazing! Especially considering those CPU’s were impossible to put in backwards unless you forced them.

No, not impossible, but very difficult. I think what happened is the CPU went partially into the socket so I thought it was all the way in or something? Anyway it all turned to FAEL

Even more OT: I enjoyed Slot1. Was like an SNES cartridge, only more expensive.

As was Slot A. And it was faster (on its initial release).
