Falco: Falco plays completely different than he did in Melee. His reflector shield has been completely reimagined, which puts an end to his pillars. Also, his blaster can no longer be shorthopped, which was also major part of his game. This being said, no one really knows how to play him anymore. His projectile reflector will probably be really important, but who knows. People are going to have to throw all previous knowledge of him out the window. (I think his dair is no longer a spike, which would be a major deal, but I’m not sure.)It is indeed still a spike, and as for his laz0rs, he can also still shorthop them, only now you can shoot two in one shorthop and then another as soon as you hit the ground…so, it seems people will be trying to abuse that as much as possible, but due to the nature of the game it will never be anywhere near as lame as melee Falco. Falco will probably end up being highish tier but not top. It’s hard to say really where the space animals will place in this game, though I feel I can safely say they will no longer have such dominance.
On another note, I’m very pleased with how Captain Falcon has turned out. As soon as the game came out, everyone was declaring that he was useless, or horrible. I watched some vids of the Japanese version and was also very dissapointed. Since playing the game however, I feel that he can still be a beast. He can’t combo as well as he did in melee, and the knee requires perfect timing, but he is still very fast and hard to deal with. Combos are character specific and given the right match up he still rocks. Combos ending in knees are essentially nonexistent, but nair and uair combos are abundant, especially when prefaced by a grab dthrow.
Due to the nature of Brawl, I agree that one main won’t cut it, because someone like CFal wouldn’t want to fight say, Lucario, who has perfect priority. With 35 characters of varying abilities, this game is going to be about match-ups hardcore. That being said, I’ve been playing Marth a lot as well and he may be something like an exception to that rule…He’s pretty nuts. He was generally considered the best character among the top players in melee and he seems even better now, still possessing much of his combo ability but with super fast side b combos and an up b that kills. Also, even though L canceling is out, some of his moves have even less lag than they did in melee, most notably the nair, though even with all that I very much doubt he will dominate a game like Brawl. With 35 diverse characters and 99 percent of their abilities still hidden, anything can happen.

ParticipantHey here is a question for you all, which one of the gagillion controller configurations do you like the most?
I’m sure I am in the minority, but I like using just the remote, it just feels so retro and right in my hands

ParticipantI almost always use the Gamecube controller, but I’ve tried some of the others. The nunchuk was terrible; the wiimote alone was alright, but I misses the jump button. I haven’t tried the classic controller.

ParticipantDoublepost! Yes Please!
Since I was very young, I have wanted to hear Samus speak. Now, they’ve given her a voice and it is perfect. Throaty, yet quiet. Soft.
Also, on the subject of character voices: is anyone else disappointed that Wolf is no longer a Brit?
