distemper
ParticipantJay,
Being an admin doesn’t make you above other players on the server.
Now, the player in question, Absynthe, I believe, remarked: “Way to save the hosties,” after you accidentally killed several hostages in an attempt to kill the members of the T team instead of being more careful. You told him to stfu. Sometime during the next round, said person replied – and it is not clear who or what he was replying to, since there was no addressee, “I hope you go to hell.”
Following this, you kicked him.
Yes, it was not a ban, and yes, it is within admin rights to punish players who talk back or fight admin instructions. But in this case, the only instruction I see here is: “stfu.”
There was no rulebreaking prior to this incident, nor was there a heated argument. Frankly, the reason why this is being posted is because I have no clue why the hell this player was booted in the first place. From what I can see, you booted him because you were annoyed at him when he provoked you about killing the hostages.
Everyone makes mistakes. Killing the hosties was an innocent mistake, this was a game. Absynthe was being a bit of a jerk to rub it in your face, especially since being more careful about hitting the hosties would have increased his chances of surviving against you. Nevertheless, it was not an attack against the WCU community, your admin abilities, or even a personal stab at you. He was not chat spamming or mic spamming. After you told him to “stfu” he may have replied “go to hell” to you.
So what.
He’s a jerk. Face it, there are jerks on this server. Doesn’t mean they get kicked from the game for it.
Jay, this is not a personal attack. I barely know you, it’s just that I feel what you did was wrong. People come to WCU’s CS:S server to have a good time, not get their *edited* kicked by an admin because they said the wrong thing. If we want to maintain WCU’s image as a place where people can game and occasionally vent because they’re getting their asses handed to them, we can’t let these things happen.
EDIT:
To Jay and the others present, I feel I’ve painted a neutral enough image of what exactly occurred. If you disagree, please say so and elaborate. My memory is not flawless and capable of mistakes.

ParticipantI must say that this does appear to be a pretty neutral point of view. Thank you for bringing your admin concerns (on behalf of another) to our attention. The matter is being discussed by the admins at this point.

Participantbtw distemper we have a section where you can report anything and not be known that it was you. Its in the first group of threads like 3 down from the welcome thread. This goes for anyone actually. If you have a problem but dont wish to be known as the one reporting it there is an anonymous section. Anyways that is there for yall.
P.S. this is in the request a change section. You can report anything annonymous in here about anyone/anything.

ParticipantNice description Distemper. I think you did a very good job explaining from a neutral position.
I just want to say that this does post a bad image on us admins and I don’t want you to think that we are all like this. Warnings are supposed to be mandatory man…I wish there were more people who would report incidents like this on the forums.

ParticipantI think our regulars do a good job at complaining about the admins.

If you want to remain anonymous when posting, you cannot just go post a new thread. You must use the “Request a Change or Report Abuse” link at the top bar of the forum pages. Up by Gallery, Arcade, Admin Application, Ban Appeal, Request…, Members, Search, Help.
So, again, if you want to remain anonymous when posting, just use the link at the top of the page.
