Action: Request a ChangeStatement: This is not lawlerence and I know some will not believe that because of the nature of the request however; I believe that no matter who you are if you ban someone you should have to post a demo if the person appeals. That way there are no mistakes and even if you have a good eye and watch someone for several maps it leaves opportunity for other people to watch what the person does and comment. I am not trying to start anything between anyone I just believe that it is relevant to all bans. I have no animosity towards anyone in the club.

And for the most part you are right. However, the CL is the one who runs each server.

They make the judgement calls on the demos in the case of appeal.

There is very, very few people who can ban without an appeal and in the most part, its not a big deal.

We cannot set up a “end-all” rule where “demos are required, no matter what!”, because then, we have tied our hands in a way that we cannot get them out.

The rules were voted in by the entire executive committee as is, and they won’t be changing anytime soon.

That’s great in concept but you’ve obviously never played CSS. Ever since they put toggles in their hacks it has become increasingly hard to catch hackers. The CLs have this ability so that those special individuals that no one can get a good demo of can still be banned. As Liam said, it is doubtful that this rule will be removed as it would force the execs and CLs to take demos of even the most obvious hackers.

If you’ll remember not that long ago the issue came up of whether or not to ban someone because their main account they had been using on our server was VAC banned. The player had been banned several times but because of the “burden of proof” that normal admins have they could never get a demo that made the ban stick. Now obviously he was hacking or he wouldn’t have been VAC banned. Had this power been utilized then it would have saved a ton of headaches as most of the admins on the server were watching his every move and everytime he got banned everyone who hadn’t spent all that time spec’ing him thought he was completely innocent.

Lawlrence has been on the admin’s “watch list” for months. This whole situation didn’t start overnight. You’d actually be surprised how sketchy some players get when they don’t think admins are on. With some players, it’s almost night and day.

@ Liam-I understand this and I realized that it would be ridiculous to have every single demo posted on everyone and when you think about it it is really only 3-4 ppl total who have that ability.

@MP-I have played css in fact I played for a better part of a year. I do remember the VAC account ordeal and I know that lawlrence has been on the watch list for awhile. But this has nothing to do with him specifically it was a general request a change and because I know that it is only a couple of people who have this power who will hopefully not abuse it I am not sorry that I started the thread but I am sorry that it came back to lawlrence.

So far Liam and me have been the only ones to ban without taking a demo and including lawlrence there have been two out of the many to come on the forums and make a stink over it.

EVeryone else who appealed their ban and the admin couldn’t produce a demo has been unbanned, regardless of how obvious the hack was or how sketch their gameplay. On the whole, the policy really hasn’t been an issue and has done more good than harm.

And I agree with you on that. I just did not know the number was so small.

You don’t know the number of people we’ve banned like that. I can think of a dozen or so in the last month alone.

Wouldn’t doubt it. I KNOW of at least 1, speaking from a more, shall we say, personal perspective.
